  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Back in lineup Friday

Wilson (hamstring) is in the Athletics' starting lineup Friday and is batting second against the Royals. Wilson missed the final two games of the Athletics' series against the Angels earlier this week and had the off day Thursday, so he's back in action after getting three days of rest due to a tight hamstring. Wilson is slashing .366/.402/.520 with eight home runs, 38 RBI, 36 runs scored and five stolen bases across 272 plate appearances this season.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Nursing tight hamstring

Wilson reported tightness in his left hamstring before Tuesday's game against the Angels, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Manager Mark Kotsay said the decision to take Wilson out of the starting lineup before Tuesday's game was precautionary, so it doesn't seem like the rookie shortstop is in danger of missing significant time. The 23-year-old has been on fire since the start of June, slashing .500/.500/.676 across 36 plate appearances.

The 23-year-old Wilson is batting .363, tied with Freddie Freeman for the second-best mark in the majors, with a .925 OPS, eight homers, 34 RBI and 34 runs scored through 255 plate appearances this season.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Good to go Wednesday

Wilson (neck) is starting at shortstop and batting second Wednesday against the Twins, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. The 23-year-old sat out Tuesday's contest after he tweaked his neck during Monday's series opener versus Minnesota, but he'll rejoin the starting nine after missing just one game. Wilson has been on fire at the plate over the past couple weeks with a .426 average (23-for-54), four doubles, two homers, three steals, six RBI and six runs in his past 14 games.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Expected back in lineup Wednesday

Wilson (neck) is expected to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, MLB.com reports. Wilson had to sit out Tuesday's contest after tweaking his neck on a dive back into first base during Monday's game. He felt much better by the end of the night Tuesday and it appears it will be just a one-day absence for the rookie shortstop.

Wilson went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to Toronto. Wilson knocked four base hits and added an RBI sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to cap off his day. • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Back in lineup Thursday

Wilson (forearm) will start at shortstop and bat second in Thursday's game against the Angels. After getting plunked on the left forearm in Tuesday's 7-5 loss, Wilson sustained nothing more than a bruise, but the Athletics still elected to keep him out of the lineup for Wednesday's 10-5 loss. The rookie infielder looks like he'll be ready to go following a day of rest and will slot back to his usual spot in the two hole. Wilson enters Thursday's contest with a .341 batting average, good for third in the majors among qualified hitters.

  • Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Sitting down Wednesday

Wilson (forearm) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Wilson was pulled from Tuesday's contest after taking a pitch off his left forearm, and he'll get another day off to recover Wednesday. Max Schuemann will get the nod at shortstop instead and bat ninth.

Wilson was removed from Tuesday's game against the Angels after getting hit on the left forearm by a pitch, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Wilson remained in the game for a while after getting plunked in the third inning, but he was eventually lifted for a pinch hitter in the fifth. The A's are officially calling the infielder's injury a contusion, so it doesn't seem like he's dealing with any serious damage and could be back in the lineup within a day or two.

He shook off that dry spell with a multi-hit effort Sunday, and he also picked up his third steal of the season, though the 23-year-old continues to be more a contact hitter than a speedster. He's up to a .337/.369/.478 slash line with five home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored and 10 doubles across 45 contests in 2025.
