  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Homers in loss to Royals

Kwan went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and an additional run scored in a 4-3 loss to Kansas City on Saturday. Kwan found his power stroke in 2024, hitting 14 homers -- more than his 2022 and 2023 seasons combined. He's off to a good start in that department in 2025. The left fielder is 3-for-7 in the first two games of the year with three runs, one homer, one double and no strikeouts. Hitting at the top of the Cleveland lineup should allow Kwan to score plenty of runs once again.

  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Lands on injured list

The Guardians placed Kwan on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with mid-back inflammation. • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Nursing back soreness

Kwan was out of the lineup for all three of the Guardians' games against Tampa Bay over the weekend due to back soreness, but medical tests revealed no structural damage and the outfielder is likely to avoid a stint on the injured list, MLB.com reports. Kwan played all nine innings of Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Rays in the series opener, then was scratched from the lineup Friday before sitting out Saturday and Sunday. The Guardians initially attributed Kwan being scratched Friday due to general body fatigue, but back soreness has since been identified as the cause of his absence. Kwan went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Rays. This was Kwan's first steal since June 25 and his fifth of the campaign on nine attempts.
