Doyle went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Monday against the Red Sox.
Doyle returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Thursday and hit seventh -- matching his lowest position of the season. He began the scoring for the Rockies with an RBI single in the second inning and his first at-bat. The Rockies haven't made their plans clear, but Doyle will presumably return to a regular starting role after getting some time to reset while amid a slump.

Doyle is being held out of the Rockies' lineup for their weekend series against the White Sox due to his struggles since the start of June. However, he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and blasted his seventh home run of the season and second since May 27. Colorado's plans for Doyle following Sunday's games are unclear, but Saturday's showing was certainly a positive sign.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Remaining on bench Sunday
Doyle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Though Doyle delivered a pinch-hit solo home run in Saturday's 10-3 loss, Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer will stick to his plan of keeping the outfielder out of the lineup for all three games of the weekend series. Schaeffer is hoping that the time off will provide a needed reset for Doyle, who had slashed .175/.204/.272 with a 25 percent strikeout rate dating back to the start of June before he slugged the solo home run Saturday. Mickey Moniak will patrol center field Sunday, but Doyle -- a two-time Gold Glove Award winner -- should settle back into an everyday role within the next few days.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: On bench for weekend series
Interim manager Warren Schaeffer said Friday that he plans to not start Doyle for the duration of Colorado's series against the White Sox, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Schaeffer cited Doyle's recent struggles at the plate as the reason for his benching, as the 27-year-old outfielder has slashed just .175/.204/.272 since the beginning of June. While Doyle uses the weekend to regroup, Yanquiel Fernandez is a likely candidate to benefit from additional playing time.

Doyle went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Dodgers.
Doyle has hit safely in four of his last five games, going 5-for-20 (.250) with three extra-base hits in that span. The homer was his first since May 27 versus the Cubs and his first at home since April 30 against Atlanta. Doyle has remained under the Mendoza Line since June 16 against the Nationals, and overall he's currently sporting a .195/.251/.318 slash line with six homers, 26 RBI, 27 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 68 contests. Doyle's struggles have opened the door for Sam Hilliard to get some looks in center field, but Doyle remains the starter for now.

It was notably Doyle's first home run of the month, as he snapped a 24-game homerless skid. Doyle went 1-for-6 with three walks, a run scored and a stolen base across both games of a doubleheader Thursday against the Royals.
Doyle was making his first starts in two weeks due to a combination of a quadriceps injury and a personal matter and hit leadoff in both contests, which came against both a lefty (Cole Ragans) and a righty (Michael Lorenzen) starter for Kansas City. While he managed only one hit, it was a positive return for Doyle, who surprisingly had attempted only one stolen base across his first 13 games of the season entering Thursday.
