  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Returns to lineup

Doyle went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Monday against the Red Sox.

Doyle returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Thursday and hit seventh -- matching his lowest position of the season. He began the scoring for the Rockies with an RBI single in the second inning and his first at-bat. The Rockies haven't made their plans clear, but Doyle will presumably return to a regular starting role after getting some time to reset while amid a slump.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Homers off bench

Doyle hit a solo home run in his only at-bat Saturday against the White Sox.

Doyle is being held out of the Rockies' lineup for their weekend series against the White Sox due to his struggles since the start of June. However, he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and blasted his seventh home run of the season and second since May 27. Colorado's plans for Doyle following Sunday's games are unclear, but Saturday's showing was certainly a positive sign.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Remaining on bench Sunday

Doyle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Though Doyle delivered a pinch-hit solo home run in Saturday's 10-3 loss, Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer will stick to his plan of keeping the outfielder out of the lineup for all three games of the weekend series. Schaeffer is hoping that the time off will provide a needed reset for Doyle, who had slashed .175/.204/.272 with a 25 percent strikeout rate dating back to the start of June before he slugged the solo home run Saturday. Mickey Moniak will patrol center field Sunday, but Doyle -- a two-time Gold Glove Award winner -- should settle back into an everyday role within the next few days.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: On bench for weekend series

Interim manager Warren Schaeffer said Friday that he plans to not start Doyle for the duration of Colorado's series against the White Sox, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Schaeffer cited Doyle's recent struggles at the plate as the reason for his benching, as the 27-year-old outfielder has slashed just .175/.204/.272 since the beginning of June. While Doyle uses the weekend to regroup, Yanquiel Fernandez is a likely candidate to benefit from additional playing time.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Out of lineup again Friday

Doyle isn't in the starting lineup against the White Sox on Friday.

It's the second time in Colorado's past three games that Doyle will begin on the bench, though he's reached safely in six of his past seven contests and has driven in three runs during that span. Mickey Moniak is getting a start in center field Friday, and Tyler Freeman is starting in right.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Getting rest Wednesday

Doyle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Doyle will receive what appears to be a routine off day after he went a collective 4-for-21 with a home run and three RBI while starting in each of the last five games. Mickey Moniak will fill in for Doyle in center field, allowing Yanquiel Fernandez to enter the lineup in right field for what will be his MLB debut.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Provides lone run in loss

Doyle went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Doyle has hit safely in four of his last five games, going 5-for-20 (.250) with three extra-base hits in that span. The homer was his first since May 27 versus the Cubs and his first at home since April 30 against Atlanta. Doyle has remained under the Mendoza Line since June 16 against the Nationals, and overall he's currently sporting a .195/.251/.318 slash line with six homers, 26 RBI, 27 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 68 contests. Doyle's struggles have opened the door for Sam Hilliard to get some looks in center field, but Doyle remains the starter for now.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Not starting Wednesday

Doyle is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Doyle went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Dodgers, and he has struggled to a .391 OPS with two steals and four RBI across 82 plate appearances in June. He'll begin Wednesday's game on the bench while Sam Hilliard starts in center field and bats ninth.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Tallies eighth stolen base

Doyle went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Doyle has enjoyed Colorado's return to Coors Field, as he went 3-for-7 with three runs scored and a stolen base across two games in the team's weekend series against Arizona. His surface stats haven't improved significantly of late, though Doyle has managed two stolen bases -- he now has eight on the season -- and nine runs scored across his last 12 starts.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Consecutive multi-hit games

Doyle went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Wednesday against the Giants.

He has responded with a pair of multi-hit games since, going 4-for-8 with a double, a triple, a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Doyle has had a disappointing season, though he has still managed five home runs and seven stolen bases across 56 games.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Heading to bench Wednesday

Doyle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Doyle started the previous 10 games and will receive a day off after batting .242 (8-for-33) with three doubles, a triple, a homer and a 7:8 BB:K during that span. Mickey Moniak will shift to center field Wednesday while Tyler Freeman starts in right.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Snaps long homer drought

Doyle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Cubs.

It was notably Doyle's first home run of the month, as he snapped a 24-game homerless skid. The outfielder has struggled at the dish to the tune of a .206 batting average, five RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases over his last 18 outings. Doyle's fantasy upside should also remain limited by Colorado's poor lineup, but he should see a boost in appeal when he gets to work from hitter-friendly Coors Field. He has a .769 OPS at home versus a .458 OPS on the road this year.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Tallies fourth steal

Doyle went 1-for-7 with a walk and a stolen base across both games of Thursday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Doyle has had a bumpy start to the season, as he's battled inconsistency at the plate and also been on and off the field for both personal reasons and a quadriceps injury. He's been in the lineup consistently since April 26, though he's now gone just 6-for-49 with three RBI and three runs scored across 12 games in that span. Doyle did manage his fourth steal of the season Thursday and has yet to be caught.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Back in lineup

Doyle (personal) will start in center field and bat leadoff Saturday against the Reds, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Doyle sat out Friday's series opener for personal reasons, but he's back in the starting nine Saturday. The 26-year-old is having a nice year at the plate so far, slashing .295/.353/.492 with 13 RBI, eight runs scored and two steals through 16 games.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Not in Friday's lineup

Doyle is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Reds on Friday due to personal reasons, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Doyle played in both games of Thursday's doubleheader against Kansas City and went 1-for-6 with three walks, a run scored and a stolen base. He had been out of the lineup since April 10 due to a quadriceps injury and a stint on the bereavement list, and the 26-year-old outfielder will be out of Friday's lineup while attending a personal matter. Jordan Beck, Mickey Moniak and Sean Bouchard will man the outfield for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: On base four times across twin bill

Doyle went 1-for-6 with three walks, a run scored and a stolen base across both games of a doubleheader Thursday against the Royals.

Doyle was making his first starts in two weeks due to a combination of a quadriceps injury and a personal matter and hit leadoff in both contests, which came against both a lefty (Cole Ragans) and a righty (Michael Lorenzen) starter for Kansas City. While he managed only one hit, it was a positive return for Doyle, who surprisingly had attempted only one stolen base across his first 13 games of the season entering Thursday.
