Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Officially doubtful for Monday
Rotowire
Davis (thigh) is doubtful for Monday's game against the Nets.
Even with the Mavericks falling out of the playoff picture, it looks like Davis will try to suit up down the stretch. He hasn't played since Feb. 8 due to a left adductor strain but went through multiple 5-on-5 practices in the G League recently and may take the floor during Dallas' four-game road trip. Following Monday's game, Dallas plays in New York on Tuesday, in Orlando on Thursday and in Chicago on Saturday.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Could return during road trip
Rotowire
Davis (adductor) is progressing toward a potential return during Dallas' upcoming four-game road trip that begins with Monday's game versus the Nets, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Davis hasn't played since Feb. 8 due to a left adductor strain but is gearing up toward a return to action. The star big man has been going through 5-on-5 practices in the G League and could take the floor during Dallas' four-game road trip. Until Davis is able to suit up, Kai Jones and Dwight Powell should continue to soak up the majority of the team's center minutes.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Set to practice in G League
Rotowire
The Mavericks assigned Davis (adductor) to the G League so he can participate in a second round of 5-on-5 practices with the Texas Legends on Friday and will recall him after, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Davis continues to ramp up toward a return to action and will take part in a 5-on-5 practice in the G League for the second time this week. Although there is no official timetable for the star big man's return, it appears that he will attempt to play before the end of the regular season.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Back with NBA club
Rotowire
Dallas recalled Davis (thigh) from the G League's Texas Legends on Monday.
Davis participated in 5-on-5 drills during Monday's G League practice as part of his return to action plan, but there's no word on how he fared just yet. As far as a timetable goes, it's still murky whether Davis will suit up for the Mavericks in the near future.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Ramping up, still no timetable
Rotowire
The Mavericks assigned Davis (thigh) to the G League's Texas Legends on Monday.
Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com relays that Davis will participate in 5-on-5 drills during Monday's G League practice as part of his return to action plan, but it's still unclear when the superstar big man may play in a game. Davis is working his way back from a left adductor strain he sustained in his Mavericks debut Feb. 8, and there have been rumors that he could be shut down for the season. However, given the Mavericks' current injury situation, they may have no choice but to play Davis again this season, even if they've fallen completely out of the playoff picture.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Cleared for more work
Rotowire
The Mavericks announced Friday that Davis (adductor) is improving daily and has been cleared for more on-court movements, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports.
While Davis is progressing from the left adductor strain he sustained in his Mavericks debut Feb. 8, the team's latest update doesn't shed much light on how close he actually is to playing again. Notably, Friday's update doesn't indicate that Davis is ready to practice, so he looks to be in the week-to-week stage of his recovery rather than day-to-day. In the wake of Kyrie Irving (knee) recently suffering a season-ending ACL tear, the Mavericks could opt to shut Davis down if the injury-ravaged club isn't confident in its ability to make a deep playoff run.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: May miss rest of season
Rotowire
The Mavericks could shut down Davis (adductor) for the rest of the 2024-25 season, Shams Charania of ESPN reported Tuesday during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."
Charania's report isn't an official update, but the Mavericks have thus far been vague about where Davis stands in his recovery from the left adductor strain he sustained in his team debut Feb. 8, with the team merely noting shortly after the All-Star break that he was "making good progress." The Mavericks were dealt another brutal blow Tuesday, when star point guard Kyrie Irving (knee) was diagnosed with a torn ACL, which will keep him out for the remainder of the season and quite likely, a large portion of the 2025-26 campaign. Rather than pushing Davis for a late-season return to an injury-ravaged roster that no longer seems to have aspirations for a deep playoff run, the Mavericks could be inclined to hold the superstar big man out so that he can head into 2025-26 in optimal health.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: To be re-evaluated in two weeks
Rotowire
The Mavericks announced Thursday that Davis will have his left adductor strain re-evaluated in two weeks.
During his debut with the Mavericks on Feb. 8 in the win against the Rockets, Davis went down with a left adductor strain, keeping him out the last three games for Dallas. The superstar big man will remain sidelined for at least the next two weeks before having the injury re-evaluated to determine a timetable for his return to the floor. The one-time NBA champion finished with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in his first game with the team, showing his vast array of skills on both ends of the floor. In his absence, the Mavericks have had to turn to Kessler Edwards and Olivier-Maxence Prosper in the frontcourt, with Daniel Gafford (knee) and Dereck Lively (ankle) also injured.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Out multiple weeks with adductor strain
Rotowire
Davis was diagnosed Sunday with a left adductor strain and is expected to miss multiple weeks and potentially up to a month, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Before exiting his final game with the Lakers on Jan. 28 due to an abdominal strain, Davis was traded to the Mavericks on Feb. 2 and was then cleared to make his team debut in Saturday's win over the Rockets. The star big man was on his way to an impressive debut with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in 31 minutes before checking out of the game with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter due to the adductor injury. While a firm timeline for Davis' return likely won't come into focus until he resumes on-court work, he can safely be ruled out through the All-Star break, and his absence looks as though it could stretch into March. With Davis sidelined, Daniel Gafford should have a higher minutes floor as the Mavericks' starting center, while P.J. Washington (ankle) will shift back to his more natural power forward spot after he started at small forward in Davis' debut. Naji Marshall, Dante Exum (Achilles) and Max Christie (shoulder) will all be candidates to benefit from extra minutes while Davis is out.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Won't go Monday
Rotowire
Davis (groin) has been ruled out for Monday's game against Sacramento.
Davis sustained the left adductor strain during his Mavericks debut in Saturday's win over the Rockets, and although the extent of the injury is yet to be determined, there are growing fears that Davis could be in for an extended absence, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports. With the superstar big man on the shelf, Naji Marshall, Dante Exum (Achilles) and Kessler Edwards are candidates for an uptick in playing time. Davis' next chance to play will come Wednesday against the Warriors.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Appears to avoid serious injury
Rotowire
Davis (lower body) said after Saturday's 116-105 win over the Rockets that the injury that forced him out of the contest in the third quarter is "nothing serious," Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports. "It wouldn't loosen up and let go," Davis said of his injury, which he said was to his groin and quadricep area. "I'm fine."
Making his Mavericks debut after he hadn't played since Jan. 28 due to an abdominal strain before the Lakers traded him to Dallas last weekend, Davis grabbed at his groin area while attending to defend the Rockets' Alperen Sengun with 2:10 remaining in the third quarter. He asked to be taken out of the game following the Mavericks' next offensive possession and was sidelined for the rest of the contest with what the team labeled called a lower-body injury. Fortunately for Davis, he seems to have avoided any sort of major aggravation of the abdominal strain, though it wouldn't be surprising if he was held out of the Mavericks' next game Monday versus the Kings. Prior to Saturday's contest, head coach Jason Kidd said Davis would play around 36-to-38 minutes in his debut. Davis was on track to reach that benchmark before his exit late in the third quarter, finishing the day with 26 points (10-18 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in 31 minutes.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Fails to return Saturday
Rotowire
Davis (lower body) didn't return to Saturday's 116-105 win over the Rockets after exiting with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter. He finished with 26 points (10-18 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks over 31 minutes.
Davis made his highly anticipated Mavericks debut Saturday and set the tone for Dallas on both ends of the floor. However, Davis left at the 1:37 mark in the third quarter after going down with what was reported as a lower body injury. Davis had been dealing with an abdominal muscle strain before being traded to the Mavericks last weekend, though it's unclear whether Saturday's injury was an aggravation or a separate issue. Look for the Mavericks to provide an update on the extent of Davis' injury later Saturday or Sunday.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Unlikely to return Saturday
Rotowire
Davis is doubtful to return for Saturday's game against the Rockets due to a lower-body injury.
Cleared to make his Mavericks debut Saturday after having not played since Jan. 28 due to an abdominal strain, Davis appeared to suffer an aggravation of the injury in the third quarter. The Mavericks will provide more details on Davis' condition after the game, but his early exit puts a damper on what had been an impressive team debut. Prior to his departure, the superstar big man racked up 26 points (10-18 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in 31 minutes.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Exits Saturday's game due to injury
Rotowire
Davis (abdomen/groin) went to the locker room late in the third quarter of Saturday's game against the Rockets, Noah Weber of TheSmokingCuban.com reports.
Davis had been dealing with an abdominal muscle strain prior to being traded to Dallas on Saturday. He was cleared to play Saturday, but he went down late in the third quarter and appeared to be grabbing his abdominal/groin area. He quickly went to the locker room after being subbed out of the game, and it's unclear whether he'll be cleared to return. With P.J. Washington (ankle) ruled out for the rest of the contest, Naji Marshall and Olivier-Maxence Prosper should see increased minutes off the bench for as long as Davis is out of the game.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Will play Saturday
Rotowire
Davis (abdomen) said that he'll play in Saturday's game against Houston, Noah Weber of TheSmokingCuban.com reports.
The superstar big man will make his Mavericks debut after having been included in the trade that sent Luka Doncic (calf) to the Lakers last Saturday. Davis has been dealing with an abdominal strain since before the trade, however, coach Jason Kidd expects him to play around 36-38 minutes, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News Mike. The 31-year-old will likely slot into the starting role at power forward alongside Daniel Gafford in the frontcourt.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Out Thursday, should play Saturday
Rotowire
Davis (abdomen) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Celtics and is targeting Saturday's game against the Rockets for his team debut, NBA reporter Marc Stein.
Davis was spotted going through a workout at the team's morning shootaround and had been listed as questionable, but the Mavericks will take a cautious approach with the star big man and push back his debut. He hadn't played since Jan. 28 before the Lakers traded him to the Mavericks on Sunday. Once he receives the green light to play, Davis will likely slot in as the Mavericks' starting power forward alongside center Daniel Gafford.

Davis has another on-court workout scheduled for Wednesday after getting through a session Tuesday. He's been sidelined since Jan. 28, and he's been non-committal regarding his chances of playing against Boston. If he doesn't take the floor Thursday, his debut could come Saturday against Houston.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Could debut Thursday or Saturday
Rotowire
Davis (abdomen) plans to complete on-court workouts Tuesday and Wednesday before the Mavericks decide on his status for Thursday's game against the Celtics, WFAA 8 Dallas reports.
Davis was non-committal on his chances of making his Mavericks debut Thursday, though he said that if he's unable to play in Boston, he'll "more than likely" take the court Saturday versus the Rockets in Dallas. Before he was officially traded to the Mavericks on Sunday, Davis had been sidelined since Jan. 28 with an abdominal strain. While speaking to the media Tuesday, Davis reiterated that he expects to see most of his playing time at power forward, though he's still likely to get some minutes at center in place of starter Daniel Gafford on the occasions when head coach Jason Kidd wants to get more shooters on the floor.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Could debut Tuesday
Rotowire
Davis (abdomen) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the 76ers, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
Davis is working through an abdominal muscle strain that has had him out of action since Jan. 28. However, the trade involving Davis, Luka Doncic and four other players is still pending, so there's no guarantee that Davis will be available to make his Mavericks debut Tuesday even if fully healthy. If Davis is ruled out, his next chance to play will come Thursday against the Celtics.
