Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Deep vein thrombosis ends season
Rotowire
Wembanyama will not play for the remainder of the 2024-25 season due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
According to Charania, the Spurs believe the blood clot is isolated. Still, it's a serious medical diagnosis, and the team will have Wembanyama sit out the remainder of the season for his safety and to get more information. Wembanyama's season ends with averages of 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.8 blocks and 1.1 steals -- numbers worthy of earning the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, though Wembanyama won't be eligible for the honor due to the amount of games he'll miss. The Spurs will presumably fill in the center spot with a combination of Sandro Mamukelashvili, Jeremy Sochan and Charles Bassey (knee). The organization may also make a move to pick up a free-agent center.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Doubtful for Thursday
Rotowire
Wembanyama has been listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against the Suns due to an illness, NBA reporter Matthew Tynan reports.
After making his first All-Star appearance over the weekend, Wembanyama might not be able to get on the floor Thursday for the Spurs, which would be a significant blow for the squad against Phoenix. San Antonio may have to turn to Sandro Mamukelashvili, Bismack Biyombo and Jeremy Sochan to help shoulder the load in the paint.

Wembanyama registered 17 points (7-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks over 36 minutes during Wednesday's 116-103 loss to the Celtics.
It was a relatively quiet night on the offensive side of the floor for Wembanyama, but the 2023 first-overall pick still managed to grab a team-high 13 rebounds while registering his 28th double-double of the regular season. Wembanyama has a chance to take his offensive game to another level following the All-Star break once new acquisition De'Aaron Fox is fully acclimated to his new team.

Wembanyama's usage rate might reduce a bit in the coming games due to the arrival of De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs backcourt, but he'll remain the team's go-to player on offense. The towering Frenchman extended his impressive stretch of games with 20 or more points to seven, a span in which he's averaging 25.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 blocks per contest.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Questionable for Monday's game
Rotowire
Wembanyama (illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Grizzlies, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Wembanyama was added to Saturday's injury report due to an illness, and he wasn't able to progress in his recovery enough to play in the Spurs' loss to the Heat. Charles Bassey would be in line to make a second straight start if Wembanyama is not cleared to play Monday.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Shines with two-way display
Rotowire
Wembanyama produced 30 points (9-20 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 7-7 FT), 14 rebounds, one assist and six blocks over 30 minutes during Friday's 144-118 victory over Milwaukee.
Even though Wembanyama didn't outplay Giannis Antetokounmpo, who finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, the Frenchman came out on top of the duel as the Spurs used a huge second half to run away with the victory. Wembanyama remains an elite fantasy producer in all formats, and the second-year big man continues to show why he's widely seen as one of the best young players in the NBA every time he steps on the court.

Wembanyama will be a reliable offensive weapon regardless of whether the Spurs lose or win games, and Friday's blowout defeat was perhaps the best example of how much of a stat-filling machine he can be in most contests. The star Frenchman has notched a double-double with at least two blocks in six of his last seven appearances, a span in which he's averaging a loaded stat line of 20.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, 4.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Fills stat sheet Monday
Rotowire

Fantasy managers should be used to seeing Wembanyama fill the stat sheet on a regular basis, but the Frenchman had perhaps one of his most productive performances of the season Monday. He recorded at least two tallies in each of the six major categories, and even though he didn't record a double-double, this was another impressive showing for the second-year big man. He's been on a tear of late, averaging 22.2 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game since the beginning of January.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Pulls down career-high 23 boards
Rotowire
Wembanyama finished with 20 points (7-19 FG, 2-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 23 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and one steal over 39 minutes during Saturday's 122-111 overtime loss to the Nuggets.
Wembanyama established a new career-high mark in rebounds in this game, and even though the Spurs came up short in the second leg of this back-to-back set against the Nuggets, the Frenchman produced another impressive stat line. He's now recorded at least 20 points in four games in a row while notching multiple blocks in each of his last 12 contests. His two-impact and tendency to stuff the stat sheet has established him as one of the best fantasy players regardless of the league format this season.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Excellent two-way showing
Rotowire
Wembanyama recorded 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and six blocks over 35 minutes during Friday's 96-87 victory over the Nets.
Wembanyama couldn't repeat the 42-point performance he delivered in the loss to the Knicks on Christmas, but he was one of the top players for the Spurs due to his outstanding two-way contributions. This was just the second game in December in which he couldn't reach the 20-point mark, but fantasy managers won't be worried if the Frenchman has an off night or two considering all the other things he brings to the table. Wembanyama is also on an impressive stretch of six consecutive appearances with four or more blocks.

Wembanyama was magnificent in the loss, continuing to produce at an elite level despite his relative inexperience. After what some considered a slow start to the season, Wembanyama has been a one-man wrecking crew of late, averaging a mind-blowing 28.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 4.4 blocks and 3.9 three-pointers per game over the past month.

Wembanyama became the sixth player in NBA history -- and the youngest -- to record at least 30 points and 10 blocks in a game as the Spurs routed the Blazers. The star big man is going through his most productive stretch of the season, as he was coming off a 42-point effort in the overtime win over the Hawks on Thursday. Plus, Wembanyama has scored at least 20 points in five straight games since returning from a two-game absence due to a back problem earlier this month. The 42 points were the most for Wembanyama since he buried the Wizards with a 50-point eruption Nov. 13. The second-year phenom has been dealing with a sore back in December that cost him two games earlier in the month, but he's been on fire since returning to the court, averaging 28.8 points, 8.8 boards, 4.5 assists, 4.0 blocks, 3.3 threes and 0.8 steals over his last four appearances.

The second-year phenom sealed the win by sinking a pair of free throws with just 2.1 seconds left on the clock, breaking a 116-116 tie. Wembanyama is playing through some nagging injuries right now, and while it didn't affect his offensive output, he did fail to record double-digit rebounds for the first time since Nov. 26. On the season, Wembanyama's averaging 23.8 points, 10.2 boards, 3.8 assists, 3.3 blocks, 3.1 threes and 1.2 steals.
