Rookie CB Ron Brooks will miss the start of the season after undergoing foot surgery. Brooks suffered the injury at practice on Thursday. The rookie is a candidate for the league’s new injured reserve rule, which allows one player to return after eight weeks.

“Thursday or Friday he had surgery, they said it went extremely well,” coach Chan Gailey said. “So we’ll see where this takes us from here.”

Brooks’ injury leaves the Bills with five healthy CBs. Veteran CB Terrence McGee, who has been making his way back from a knee injury, is expected to return to practice on Monday.
