Moss is reportedly on his way to San Francisco for another tryout. (US Presswire)
Unlike fellow diva wide receiver Terrell Owens, who’s stuck playing for the Allen Wranglers in the IFL, Randy Moss has drawn some interest on the NFL’s upcoming free agent market.

He worked out for the Saints last week and apparently made an impression, as he supposedly “lit it up” at his tryout while running about 45 routes. Now, the 49ers reportedly want to take a look.

Latest NFL News, Notes

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Moss will fly into San Francisco on Sunday in order to work out with the team Monday.

As we told you Saturday in our NFC West free agency preview, the 49ers could certainly use help in their receiving corps. Michael Crabtree, their No. 1 receiver, is coming off a solid year, but his supporting cast, including free agents Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn Jr., should be upgraded. Although the 49ers are a power running team -- and we saw how successful that could be last year -- it wouldn’t hurt to give Alex Smith, assuming he re-signs in San Francisco, more help.

While Moss has had locker room issues in the past -- just ask former Vikings coach Brad Childress about that -- there’s a chance he could still be a viable deep threat for the 49ers. Maybe even better than Detroit’s Calvin Johnson?

“I don’t know that,” Moss said recently on one of his USTREAM sessions. “That will be interesting to see this year.”

Of course if Moss continues to impress the team for which he works out, maybe we’ll get to make that comparison after all.
