Bears' Christian Jones: Blanked in finale
Jones posted no stats in the Bears' 31-17 Week 18 loss to the Vikings, and he ended the season with 24 tackles.
Although Jones played in every game this season, he averaged fewer than two tackles per game, and in five different games, he failed to record a tackle. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but unless he can land a role in which he sees significant snaps, he'll have little IDP value.

Bears' Christian Jones: Fully practices Wednesday
Jones (finger) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice session.
Jones sustained a finger injury last week, but it doesn't appear as though he'll be limited by the issue ahead of Week 17. He's played just two defensive snaps across the last two weeks, and most of his playing time this year has come on special teams.

Bears' Christian Jones: Comes off COVID list
The Bears activated Jones (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
Jones spent just under a week progressing through the league's protocols for COVID-19. He can now return to practice with more than enough time to prepare for the Aug. 14 preseason contest against the Dolphins.

It's unclear whether Jones tested positive for the virus or is out due to contact tracing, but he'll need to clear the health and safety protocols regardless. Jones will have nearly two weeks to return to practice before the preseason opener Aug. 14 versus the Dolphins.

Bears' Christian Jones: Back in Chicago
Jones signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
After spending his first four NFL seasons in Chicago, Jones played for the Lions over the last three years. However, he's coming back to the Bears for the 2021 campaign. The 30-year-old linebacker accrued 57 tackles and a pass breakup over 16 games last season. He figures to take on a rotational role next year behind fellow outside linebackers Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn.

Christian Jones: Cut loose by Detroit
The Lions informed Jones of his release Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The 30-year-old linebacker made 42 starts for Detroit over the past three seasons, averaging 59 tackles, 2.7 pass defenses and one sack per year. Although he has 73 NFL starts to his name, Jones could be viewed as more of a backup on the open market.

Your proverbial jack of all trades but master of none, Jones followed up a solid 2019 campaign with another one in 2020. However, both the head coach and general manager that valued his versatility have been fired, making it possible that Jones has played his last game with Detroit. The Lions could save over $2 million against the salary cap by letting go of the soon-to-be 30-year-old this offseason.
