Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Limited defensive role in 2024
Vigil finished the 2024 season with 22 tackles (10 solo) over 16 games.
Vigil operated primarily as a special-teams option this season, playing just 119 defensive snaps over his 16 games with Dallas. The soon-to-be 31-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason after signing a one-year contract with the Cowboys in 2024.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: In for Sunday
Vigil (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
The linebacker was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough session, missed Thursday's practice and then returned in a limited capacity Friday. Vigil also played through a foot injury in Dallas' Week 17 loss to Philadelphia. The 2016 third-round pick has played more on special teams than defense for the Cowboys this year, posting 22 tackles (10 solo).

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Good to go for Week 17
Vigil (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Vigil opened the week with consecutive DNPs due to a foot injury he likely picked up during Dallas' Week 16 win over Tampa Bay. He was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday, and he has progressed enough in his recovery to suit up Sunday. Vigil registered a season-high 10 combined tackles in Week 16.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Questionable for Sunday
Vigil (foot) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
With DeMarvion Overshown (knee) and Eric Kendricks (calf) sidelined during the Week 16 win over the Buccaneers, Vigil played a season-high 67 defensive snaps and recorded 10 total tackles. However, the Utah State product appears to have picked up a foot injury in the process, opening Dallas' week of practice with consecutive DNPs. Vigil upgraded to a limited session Friday, indicating he may be trending toward playing Sunday. If the veteran is unable to suit up in Week 17, expect Damone Clark to step in as the Cowboys' top weakside linebacker.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Pops up on injury report
The Cowboys listed Vigil (foot) as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice estimate, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Vigil popped up on the team's injury report Wednesday after having racked up 10 tackles during the team's Week 16 win over the Buccaneers. Unless he's able to practice on either Thursday or Friday, the 2016 third-round pick could be in danger of missing his second game of the season.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Season-high 10 tackles vs. Bucs
Vigil finished Sunday's 26-24 win over the Buccaneers with 10 tackles (five solo).
Vigil played just 49 defensive snaps in his first 13 games of the regular season while operating mostly on special teams. However, he got the start at linebacker Sunday due to Eric Kendricks (calf) being injured, and Vigil ended up playing 67 snaps on defense despite working through a foot issue of his own. Vigil led the Cowboys with 10 combined tackles, and he could start in Week 17 against the Eagles on Sunday if Kendricks isn't cleared to play.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Ready to go for Week 16
Vigil (foot) is active for Sunday night's contest against the Buccaneers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Vigil will be able to go in Week 16 after nursing a foot injury at practice all week. The linebacker hasn't played a defensive snap since Week 10, so he'll likely have his greatest impact on special teams versus Tampa Bay.

Cowboys' Nick Vigil: Suiting up Thursday
Vigil (foot) is active for Thursday's Week 13 game versus the Giants.
Vigil was estimated as a non-participant in walkthroughs both Monday and Tuesday before logging a limited session Wednesday. That practice will be enough for the veteran defender to suit up on Thanksgiving Day. It's uncertain if Vigil will get any defensive snaps, though, as he's played only on special teams in six of his 10 contests this season.
