  • Adam Humphries: Doesn't make cut

The Texans released Humphries on Tuesday. Humphries signed with Houston on Aug. 13 after failing to latch on with an NFL squad last season. The veteran logged two catches on three targets for 18 yards in his lone preseason contest with the Texans. Humphries has plenty of NFL experience and could end up on Houston's practice squad as valuable pass catching depth.

  • Texans' Adam Humphries: Gets new opportunity

Humphries signed a contract with the Texans on Sunday, Aaron Wilson reports. Humpries played in 17 contests for the Commanders last season, securing 41 of 62 targets for 383 yards. The 30-year-old will now work to earn a depth role in the Texans' wide receiver corps.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Finishes year with 41 catches

Humphries played all 17 games for Washington in 2021, catching 41 of 62 targets for 383 yards and no touchdowns. Humphries stayed healthy after two injury-plagued seasons (2019-20) in Tennessee, but he finished with career lows for yards per catch (9.3), yards per target (6.2) and touchdowns (zero). The 28-year slot specialist is scheduled for free agency again this offseason, and while he figures to attract some level of interest, he could face tougher competition for a slot/No. 3 role, depending on where he signs and for how much.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Draws six targets Tuesday

Humphries hauled in three of six targets for 23 yards in Tuesday's 27-17 loss to the Eagles. Though Washington was breaking in third-stringer Garrett Gilbert as its starting quarterback Tuesday, Humphries remained involved in the passing game. He's now had multiple catches in each of the last five games, securing 15 of 22 targets for 139 yards during that stretch.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Washington-Eagles moved to Tuesday

Humphries and Washington will no longer play the Eagles on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within Washington's organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Football Team will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Draws seven targets

Humphries caught four passes for 34 yards on seven targets against Dallas on Sunday. It's not the most exciting box score, but Humphries' seven targets were his second highest of the season, behind only the eight he saw against the Giants in Week 2. It's possible that Humphries' target rate remains elevated if Terry McLaurin (concussion) can't play against Philadelphia in Week 15.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Four catches against Raiders

Humphries caught four of five targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 17-15 win over the Raiders. The veteran slot man wound up leading all Washington wideouts in catches and receiving yards on a sluggish day for the team's passing game. Humphries hasn't reached 40 receiving yards since Week 5 and is still looking for his first TD of the season, giving him limited appeal heading into a Week 14 clash with the Cowboys.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Playing Monday

Humphries (hip) is listed as active Monday versus the Seahawks. Despite having practice limitations during Week 12 prep, Humphries will be available to Washington's offense Monday, as he has been all season. He'll be joined by both Curtis Samuel (groin) and Logan Thomas (hamstring), but they'll all still take a back seat to No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Receives questionable tag

Humphries (hip) is questionable for Monday's game versus the Seahawks, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Humphries was limited by the hip injury at practice this week but should have a chance to suit up for Monday Night Football. DeAndre Carter and Cam Sims could be more involved if Humphries is unable to face Seattle.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Nursing hip issue

Humphries was a limited practice participate Friday due to a hip injury, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Humphries apparently picked up the injury while catching both his targets for 30 yards during last week's matchup with the Panthers. The 28-year-old should be able to avoid an injury designation for Monday's game versus Seattle if he can practice with no limitations Saturday.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Quiet in win

Humphries secured both of his targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Panthers. Humphries played just 45 percent of Washington's offensive snaps and made little out of his opportunities. The 2021 season has been an underwhelming one for the veteran wideout, as he has yet to find the end zone and is averaging a paltry 25.5 yards per game.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Catches one pass in win

Humphries caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's 29-19 win over the Buccaneers. Humphries' one target was the lowest of any Washington player that caught a pass Sunday, though the veteran wideout played on 52 percent of the team's offensive snaps. Humphries has struggled to produce in Washington's offense this season, making him difficult to trust for fantasy purposes. The 28-year-old will look to get more involved in Week 11 when Washington visits the Panthers.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Puts up 36 yards

Humphries caught three of four targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Packers. The veteran slot receiver is now averaging 2.6 catches for 26.4 yards on 3.7 targets per game, playing 53-to-70 percent of offensive snaps in each contest. His role hasn't really grown or shrunk while Washington has dealt with WR injuries around him, with Humphries consistently operating as the slot guy for three-wide formations. He'll fill the same role Week 8 at Denver in a matchup between teams with arguably the two most disappointing defenses in the league.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Finishes with negative yardage

Humphries caught one of two targets for a four-yard loss in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Chiefs. Humphries is averaging just 2.5 catches for 24.8 yards per game, struggling to build chemistry with QB Taylor Heinicke. The veteran slot man could even be demoted from the No. 3 receiver role at some point, though perhaps not before Week 7 in Green Bay, given that Curtis Samuel (groin) is in danger of missing another game.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Leading receiver in loss

Humphries caught three of five targets for 73 yards in Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Saints. While the veteran slot receiver didn't see much target volume, Humphries wound up leading Washington in receiving yards as the New Orleans secondary made sure Terry McLaurin wasn't going to beat them. With Dyami Brown (knee) and Cam Sims (hamstring) both banged up, Humphries could see a significant role again in Week 6 in a potentially juicy matchup against Kansas City.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Targeted once, holds No. 3 role

Humphries caught his lone target for 19 yards in Sunday's 34-30 win over Atlanta. It was a season low for targets, but Humphries actually handled his second-largest snap share (67 percent) of the year in Curtis Samuel's Washington debut. The former Panther mostly took snaps away from rookie Dyami Brown, who has now caught only five of 14 targets for 51 yards (and picked up a knee injury during Sunday's win). It looks like Samuel and Humphries will get most of the playing time alongside Terry McLaurin in Week 5 against New Orleans, but snaps won't necessarily lead to targets and yards for Humphries.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Catches just one pass

Humphries caught one of four targets for seven yards in Sunday's 43-21 loss to the Bills. The veteran slot man tied for second on the team in targets on a day where Buffalo ate up most of the possession and Taylor Heinicke attempted only 24 passes. Humphries and Logan Thomas are tied for second on the team with 14 targets through three games, but the former has managed just 71 scoreless yards, while the tight end has 117 yards and two TDs. Humphries at least gets a good matchup Week 4, facing the Falcons in Atlanta.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Targeted eight times

Humphries caught seven of eight targets for 44 yards in Thursday's 30-29 win over the Giants. Coming off an ugly, run-heavy loss to the Chargers the previous week, Washington displayed a far better passing attack Thursday evening, led by an 11-catch night from Terry McLaurin. Four other players, including Humphries, finished between six and eight targets, with QB Taylor Heinicke throwing for 336 yards and two TDs in his first regular-season start for Washington. Humphries is at 9-54-0 on 10 targets through two games, and he should maintain his slot role Week 3 at Buffalo. Reduced playing time could be coming when Curtis Samuel (groin) returns from IR, which technically can happen as soon as Week 4.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Catches two passes

Humphries caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Chargers Humphries played 60 percent of snaps on offense, working as the No. 3 receiver behind Terry McLaurin (100 percent) and Dyami Brown (93 percent). The three combined for only 10 targets, with Washington attempting 21 passes in a game where QB Ryan Fitzpatrick left early due to a hip injury. Humphries figures to handle the same slot role in three-wide sets Thursday night against the Giants, this time with Taylor Heinicke as the starting quarterback for Washington. Once Curtis Samuel (groin) returns from IR -- no sooner than Week 4 -- playing time could be harder to come by for Humphries.

  • Football Team's Adam Humphries: Sees three targets from Fitzpatrick

Humphries finished without a catch on three targets in Friday's preseason game against Cincinnati. The good news is that Humphries saw all three of his targets from projected starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, after accounting for two of Fitz's eight passes in the preseason opener. The veteran slot receiver is now just 1-of-5 for six yards this preseason, but the usage suggests he's on track for the No. 3 receiver role, or at least in position to split it with another player -- possibly rookie third-round pick Dyami Brown. Humphries probably needs the job to himself to have a real shot at mainstream fantasy value, even in an offense that heavily relies on three-wide sets.
