49ers' Myles Hartsfield: Signs with San Francisco
The 49ers reached a deal with Hartsfield on Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Hartsfield was a restricted free agent but will now head to San Francisco after the Panthers opted not to place a tender on him. The move will reunite the 25-year-old with 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, whom Hartsfield had his most productive season with this past year. The 2020 undrafted free agent should now have the opportunity to compete with Tashaun Gipson for the starting safety job opposite Talanoa Hufanga.

Myles Hartsfield: Not offered tender
The Panthers are not offering Hartsfield a restricted free agent tender ahead of the start of the new league year Wednesday, Anthony Rizzuti of USA Today reports.
Hartsfield has spent the duration of his three-year NFL career in Carolina, joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss back in 2020. Across those three seasons with the Panthers, Hartsfield accumulated a total of 18 combined tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and seven pass breakups in 41 games.

Panthers' Myles Hartsfield: Will play Sunday
Hartsfield (ankle) is active Sunday against the Seahawks, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Hartsfield was able to log a full practice Friday, but his status for Week 14 remained in question. His return from a multi-week absence should help bolster the Panthers' secondary against Seattle.

Panthers' Myles Hartsfield: Full practice Friday
Hartsfield (ankle) logged a full practice Friday.
After he was limited at the first two practices of the week, Hartsfield was able to be a full participant Friday. The safety missed back-to-back games prior to the Panthers' bye in Week 13, but he now appears on track to return Sunday versus the Seahawks. If Hartsfield remains unavailable, Juston Burris and Sean Chandler would continue playing slightly larger roles in the secondary.

Panthers' Myles Hartsfield: Missing second straight contest
Hartsfield (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Hartsfield is slated to watch Carolina's Week 12 matchup versus Denver from the sideline as a result of an ankle issue. In his absence, Xavier Woods and Jeremy Chinn are anticipated to serve as the team's starting safeties, while Juston Burris and Sean Chandler are on tap for immediate backup duties.

Panthers' Myles Hartsfield: Not playing Sunday
Hartsfield (ankle) will not play Sunday against the Ravens, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
The return of Jeremy Chinn (hamstring) off injured reserve mitigates the loss of Hartsfield. The 25-year-old has started every game since Week 3 accumulating 40 tackles over that stretch.
