Raiders' James Cowser: Moved to defensive line

Raiders' James Cowser: Sticking around in Oakland
Cowser has signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders, Matt Schneidman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Cowser appeared in 22 games for Oakland between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, but the 28-year-old failed to make a single game appearance throughout 2018. It appears he'll now get another chance to earn a role in Oakland's linebacking corps, though Cowser's most probable outcome -- should he make the team out of training camp -- is likely contained to work on special teams.

James Cowser: Waived by Oakland
Cowser was waived by the Raiders on Monday, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Cowser was waived by Oakland to begin the 2018 season, briefly rejoined the team in late October, and will ultimately be set loose once more to make room for Kony Ealy on the 53-man roster. If the depth defensive end goes unclaimed on waivers, he'll be a strong candidate to sign with the Raiders' practice squad.

Raiders' James Cowser: Re-signs with Oakland
Cowser, an exclusive-rights free agent, signed a contract with the Raiders on Monday.
Cowser signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2016 season and has since racked up 32 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 22 games. The product of Southern Utah should remain a key special-teams player and depth linebacker for Oakland in 2018.
