Jabril Cox: Workouts coming soon
Cox (groin) has been cleared to return by doctors and is expected to work out for NFL teams soon, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Cox was waived with an injury settlement by the Vikings in August, but he has finally recovered from that injury and intends to resume his NFL career. The linebacker would have to pass a medical exam in order to sign with an NFL team, at which point it would be confirmed that he's healthy enough to play again.

Jabril Cox: Cut with injury settlement
The Vikings waived Cox (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cox landed on injured reserve Aug. 14 but is now eligible to sign with a new team once healthy. A fourth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2021, Cox has 26 games of NFL experience, mainly seeing action on special teams.

Vikings' Jabril Cox: Reverts to injured reserve
Cox (undisclosed) reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve list Wednesday after going unclaimed off waviers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
With Cox on injured reserve, the 26-year-old linebacker will be forced to sit for the entire 2024 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Minnesota. The 2021 fourth-rounder registered two solo tackles across 10 regular-season outings with the Commanders in 2023.

Jabril Cox: Cut loose by Minnesota
The Vikings waived/injured Cox (undisclosed) on Tuesday.
Cox will likely go unclaimed off waivers, which will revert him to the Vikings' injured reserve. That would cause the 2021 fourth-rounder to sit out for the entire season unless an injury settlement is reached with Minnesota. Cox appeared in 10 regular-season games with Washington last season, playing all but one of his 202 snaps on special teams and finishing with two solo tackles.

Jabril Cox: Unexpected cut
Cox was waived by the Cowboys on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Cox was believed to be headed for a larger role in 2023 after DeMarvion Overshown suffered an ACL tear during a preseason game. Instead, the 2021 fourth-round selection will not make the team's final 53-man roster. Garafolo notes that the LSU product is a likely candidate for the practice squad, assuming he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Cowboys' Jabril Cox: Headed for bigger role
Cox is expected to see more defensive snaps this season with 2023 third-round pick DeMarvion Overshown (knee) now out for the season, Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' website reports.
Overshown suffered an ACL tear in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks, taking a big piece out of Dallas' linebacking corps. Leighton Vander Esch and Damone Clark are expected to be the Cowboys' primary starters in the middle of the defense, but Cox and Devin Harper will now pick up the slack from Overshown's loss. Cox, a fourth-round pick out of LSU in 2021, also suffered a torn ACL in his rookie season and saw only 35 defensive snaps last year; however, if he's fully recovered, his speed, athleticism and coverage skills could allow him to make an impact.

Cowboys' Jabril Cox: Fully healthy again
Cox is fully recovered from the knee injury that sidelined him for most of his rookie season in 2021, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports. "I'm feeling great," Cox said after practice Thursday. "I think I'm there [in top form]. Game reps will definitely help because there's no better way to get ready for a game than to play in a game -- getting in game shape will be one of the main things -- but right now I'm prepared for Week 1."
A fourth-round pick out of LSU last year, Cox saw only nine defensive snaps over seven games before suffering a torn ACL, but he was a big contributor on special teams as a rookie. The offseason addition of Anthony Barr likely keeps Cox out of a starting spot to begin this season, but his speed and coverage ability could make him a part of the package on passing downs, and neither Barr nor Leighton Vander Esch are locks to stay healthy and in the lineup.

Cowboys' Jabril Cox: Sitting out practice
Cox suffered a minor knee injury in practice early this week and remained on the sideline for sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
The team hasn't offered any details on the injury, including whether it's to the same knee on which he underwent season-ending surgery last year, but Cox is expected to return to practice Saturday. The recent Anthony Barr signing all but ensures Cox will begin the campaign as a defensive reserve and special-teams player, but his coverage skills could still allow him to see action on key passing downs.
