  • Torry McTyer: Tries out in Dallas

The Cowboys worked out McTyer on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

McTyer hasn't seen any game action since he tore his ACL in Week 4 of last season, but his recent workout in Dallas suggests that he's healthy enough to return to the field whenever a team comes knocking on his door.

  • Football Team's Torry McTyer: Tears ACL, out for season

McTyer tore his ACL during Sunday's contest against the Falcons and will miss the rest of the season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

McTyer was competing for the nickel corner spot throughout camp, but he ultimately lost the job and reverted to a reserve role. With Benjamin St-Juste (concussion) unavailable, the 26-year-old saw his first extended action of the season in Week 4. If St-Juste is still sidelined for Week 5, then Darryl Roberts and Troy Apke will be the most likely candidates to step up.

  • Football Team's Torry McTyer: Enters fray for nickel snaps

Coach Ron Rivera said McTyer's (concussion) impressive showing at training camp played a role in Washington's decision to release former nickel corner Jimmy Moreland, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

That said, the team won't necessarily use McTyer as a full-time slot corner, as there are a few different options to replace Moreland. Washington can also use a third safety instead of a third cornerback -- which allows Landon Collins, Kamren Curl and Bobby McCain to all get on the field -- or they can put third-round pick Benjamin St-Juste at outside corner and slide starter Kendall Fuller to the slot for nickel formations. Still, McTyer reportedly had a great camp prior to suffering a concussion in the preseason finale, and he should have some kind of role once he's healthy.
