49ers' Tre Tomlinson: Reverts to IR
Tomlinson (undisclosed) reverted to the 49ers' injured reserve Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Tomlinson was waived by the 49ers on Friday with an injury designation but went unclaimed, and by reverting to San Francisco's injured reserve, Tomlinson will be forced to sit out the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached. He played 15 regular-season games for the Rams in 2023, posting 13 tackles (11 solo) while mostly serving on special teams.

Tre Tomlinson: Out in San Francisco
Tomlinson (undisclosed) was waived with an injury designation Friday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Tomlinson was picked up by the 49ers in early March after being dropped by the Rams, but it now appears the team has decided to move in another direction. The LSU product missed the entire 2024 season due to this undisclosed injury, and it's unclear when he'll be able to return to the field. Once he proves he's healthy again, Tomlinson could find a role on a team in need of special-teams help.

49ers' Tre Tomlinson: Claimed by San Francisco
The 49ers claimed Tomlinson off waivers Friday.
Tomlinson was waived by the Rams on Wednesday, quickly finding a new home just a couple of days later. The cornerback hasn't appeared in a game since 2023 after spending this past season on injured reserve with Los Angeles while nursing an undisclosed injury. If he sticks around San Francisco in 2025, Tomlinson will provide the 49ers with a depth option in their secondary and another body on special teams.

Tre Tomlinson: Let go by Rams
The Rams waived Tomlinson on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Tomlinson spent the entire 2024 season on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury. Assuming he clears waivers, Tomlinson will look to catch on with a team in need of help on special teams and depth in the secondary.

Rams' Tre Tomlinson: Lands on IR
Tomlinson (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Tomlinson suited up in 15 regular-season games for the Rams last season. He could still receive an injury settlement with the team, but if not, he'll remain on IR throughout the season.

Rams' Tre Tomlinson: Returns to practice Wednesday
Tomlinson (hamstring) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
A hamstring injury has sidelined Tomlinson for each of Los Angeles' past two games, but the defensive back appears to be doing better given his ability to practice in full to open Week 18 prep. Tomlinson has worked primarily in a special-teams role this season, but he may see additional work on defense against San Francisco on Sunday if he's able to suit up since Rams head coach Sean McVay has indicated that the team will be resting multiple starters on both offense and defense.

Rams' Tre Tomlinson: Out for Week 17
Tomlinson (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Giants, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
The sixth-round rookie will miss his second straight game. He's played just 38 defensive snaps this season, seeing most of his action on special teams.

Rams' Tre Tomlinson: Won't play Thursday
Tomlinson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Saints.
Tomlinson suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the Commanders and has been estimated to be a DNP each day this week on the Rams' walk-through injury report. The rookie corner's absence will likely only impact the special teams unit, as the TCU product has only seen 33 snaps on defense in 14 contests this season.

Rams' Tre Tomlinson: Managing thigh issue
Tomlinson suffered a thigh injury during Sunday's game against the Commanders, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
Tomlinson sustained his injury in the second half of Sunday's matchup and was deemed questionable to return. He was unavailable down the stretch, and it's unclear whether he'll be ready to return in time for Thursday's game against the Saints.

Rams' Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson: Heads to Los Angeles
The Rams selected Hodges-Tomlinson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 182nd overall.
Nephew of Hall of Famer Ladanian Tomlinson, Hodges-Tomlinson was a factor on the TCU defense each of the last three seasons. He logged an impressive 18 pass breakups in 2022 and checked in with 4.41 speed at the combine. He is perilously small, however, at 5-foot-8 and 178 pounds. His speed and toughness will help his cause, but Hodges-Tomlinson may have a difficult time carving out much more than a depth role at the next level.
