The Steelers cut Simmons on Tuesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Simmons signed with the Steelers back in March, but he wasn't able to carve out a spot on the regular-season roster. The depth wideout spent time on Houston's practice squad last season.

Simmons signed a contract with the Steelers on Friday, Howard Balzer of SI.com reports.
Simmons was briefly on the Texans' practice squad last season, but the opportunity never materialized into a spot on the 53-man roster. He'll compete for that opportunity with the Steelers this offseason.

Tyler Simmons: Parts ways with Houston
The Texans released Simmons from their practice squad Monday, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports.
Simmons lost out to DeAndre Carter for the returner job in training camp, but he stuck around in the organization as a member of the practice squad. He'll now be free to sign elsewhere, as Houston deemed Simmons expendable after adding two new wideouts to the practice squad Monday in Dwayne Harris and Devin Smith.

Texans' Tyler Simmons: Competing for return job
Simmons will challenge DeAndre Carter for the top return job, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Simmons, an undrafted free agent from the University of Georgia, led the Bulldogs with a 15.9 average on punt returns in 2019. The Texans have a deep wide receiver corps, so it may be necessary for Simmons to win a return job to stick with the team.
