Islanders' Jared Coreau: Inks two-way deal
Coreau agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders on Thursday, CapFriendly reports.
Once considered the netminder of the future in Detroit, Coreau has struggled to secure regular opportunities in the NHL. The 27-year-old made 21 appearances for the Red Wings, the last of which came during the 2017-18 campaign. With Semyon Varlamov joining the organization, Coreau figures to spend the year in the minors, but should top the list of call-ups should his services be needed on Long Island.

Blues' Jared Coreau: Summoned from minor ranks
The Blues recalled Coreau from AHL San Antonio on Tuesday.
Coreau will serve as the Blues' third netminder for the team's playoff run, but it's highly unlikely he will see the crease. The 27-year-old's numbers with San Antonio -- a 3.15 GAA and a .886 save percentage -- are far from appealing, but he'll remain on hand as depth in the event an injury occurs now that the Rampage's season has come to a close.

The Ducks reassigned Coreau to AHL San Diego on Wednesday.
Coreau was promoted Monday as added insurance in the crease with Chad Johnson yet to arrive and Ryan Miller (knee) sidelined. Johnson should be available Wednesday, making Coreau expendable in terms of his roster spot. The 27-year-old should remain one of the top candidates to rejoin the NHL ranks if Johnson or John Gibson should miss some time.

Ryan Miller (lower body) is banged up and considered day-to-day, hence the call-up for Coreau. The Ducks will hope to not have to actually use him in a game, and the 27-year-old will probably only be around to back up John Gibson as insurance until Miller is healthy.

Coreau only played half the game but was unmistakably solid. Likely to spend the majority of the year in the minors, this performance is a positive step for Coreau in his quest to secure a roster spot with Anaheim for the 2018-19 season. That said, he remains a long shot to make the club.

Coreau signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Ducks on Sunday, Craig Custance of The Athletic reports.
The deal is worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $450,000 at the AHL level. The netminder struggled last season with an .867 save percentage in seven appearances with the big club. The Ducks are set with John Gibson, but there could be an opportunity for Coreau to continue to grow in the minors.

Coreau finishes the campaign without a win, as he entered Saturday's contest with an 0-5-0 record. He also owns a disastrous .867 save percentage and 4.26 GAA through seven appearances, and it'll be interesting to see what the future holds for the 26-year-old netminder. Coreau hits unrestricted free agency July 1, if he isn't re-signed by the Red Wings.

Coreau will patrol the crease against the Islanders in Detroit for the regular-season finale Saturday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Detroit's primary backup was waived in order to be reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Sunday, but will still start for the big club here. This is the last chance for Coreau to pick up that elusive victory as part of the 2017-18 campaign. It's fair to wonder whether he's cut out to be an NHL goaltender as the 26-year-old's ratios through 20 career contests include a 3.71 GAA and .878 save percentage. Perhaps Coreau will get the benefit of the doubt knowing he's had to work behind a shoddy defense, but either way, he should be avoided in all fantasy setups.

Red Wings' Jared Coreau: Allows four in loss
Coreau made 24 saves on 28 shots in a 4-3 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday.
In Coreau's last start, he also allowed four goals in a loss to the Habs, so at least the 26-year-old is consistent. He's also been awful. In six games, he has failed to pick up a single win and he has a 4.35 GAA and .859 save percentage.

Red Wings' Jared Coreau: Preparing to start Thursday
Coreau (illness) is slated to start at home against the Canadiens on Thursday, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.
The 26-year-old has been awful in limited action, with Coreau having allowed no fewer than three goals in any of his five starts. His last appearance actually took place against this Habs team March 26 when it tagged him for four goals on 31 shots. Coreau is the clear No. 2 for the Red Wings as the understudy to Jimmy Howard, but this team ranks near the bottom of the league both offensively and defensively. It'll be important to avoid Coreau on this 12-game slate unless you're desperate for a stopgap option.

Coreau is battling the flu and won't get the start as originally intended Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports, adding that Tom McCollum will serve as the backup to Jimmy Howard in the upcoming contest.
This might prove to have been Coreau's last opportunity to show the Red Wings that he deserves to be retained beyond the 2017-18 campaign. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the summer and is in danger of going winless with a 4.40 GAA and an .859 save percentage over five games at the highest level this campaign.

The 26-year-old was able to win some games last season, which was his first in the NHL, despite an .887 save percentage. He hasn't been so lucky this year with even worse statistics. In four starts, Coreau owns a .856 save percentage and 4.48 GAA. Not surprisingly, he hasn't won any of those games. That makes him a streaming option for only the most desperate owners.
