Richard was placed on waivers by the Flyers on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Richard signed a two-way contract with the Flyers in July, and he was unable to earn a spot on the team's Opening Night roster. He should head to the minors if he clears waivers, and he'll likely spend most, if not all, of the season in the minors.

Richard compiled 25 goals and 55 points in 59 regular-season contests for AHL Providence in 2023-24. He also chipped in one goal and two helpers in nine NHL outings with Boston this past campaign. Richard will probably spend most, if not all, of 2024-25 in the minors.

He beat David Rittich midway through the second period to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead, but the home squad let it slip through their fingers. Richard has never been able to carve out a regular role in the NHL and may not be around for long in Boston, but the 27-year-old is having another productive campaign in the AHL with 19 goals and 38 points in 41 games for Providence.

That could indicate that Richard will be in the lineup for a second straight contest Tuesday against Tampa Bay. Richard scored a goal on one shot and delivered three hits over 7:21 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Pittsburgh.
Richard got past the Penguins defensemen, accepting a nice feed from Justin Barron, to pot the game-winning goal. It was his second goal of the season and first since being called up four games ago after Christian Dvorak sustained a lower-body injury. Richard has served primarily on the fourth line and averaged 9:52 TOI in his second stint with the parent club this season.

Richard returned to the active lineup after being a healthy scratch the last two games. He skated on the third line and was the secondary helper on Josh Anderson's goal. Richard showed a scoring touch in the AHL before a recent callup to Montreal and could be in line for steady playing time. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis scratched Joel Armia on Tuesday, and the coach has no shortage of unproductive forwards.

Richard scored a goal on his lone shot on net in Montreal's 2-1 overtime loss to Colorado on Wednesday. He added one hit and two penalty minutes over 9:44 of ice time.
Richard's marker came just 1:48 into the game, but Montreal didn't build off that early edge. It was his first goal in two contests this season, as well as his first career NHL point. His hooking penalty early in the third period led to Colorado's power-play goal that tied the contest. Unlike his first game, when Richard skated at times on the second line, he remained on the fourth line Wednesday. Unless Montreal gives Richard a bigger role, the 26-year-old shouldn't be expected to make regular offensive contributions.

Canadiens' Anthony Richard: Makes season debut
Richard had two shots on goal and three hits over 10:58 of ice time in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Coyotes.
Richard, making his Montreal debut, was up from AHL Laval, replacing Rem Pitlick and opened the game on the fourth line. He impressed with his speed, per Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette, and earned a promotion, replacing Juraj Slafkovsky on the second line with Kirby Dach and Jonathan Drouin. The 26-year-old Richard made an impression at Laval, where the farmhand had 18 goals and 13 assists to lead the AHL in scoring.
