While it's not yet clear what injury Mitchell is dealing with, it appears as though he'll be sidelined to begin the regular season. He made just 13 appearances for the Bruins last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him spend time in the minors once he's healthy.

Mitchell has spent enough time on the NHL roster to be required to pass through waivers again after previously going unclaimed back in late October. Considering the blueliner has been a frequent healthy scratch since then in addition to logging just one assist in 11 games, it seems unlikely another team will claim him this time around.
