Sharks' Will Smith: Plays in full back-to-back
Smith scored a goal and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Kraken.
For the first time in his young career, Smith played in both halves of a back-to-back. He had previously sat out a game in those situations over the first quarter of the campaign, and it's unclear if Saturday signals a shift in the Sharks' development plan for the 19-year-old, or if his offense was simply too hot to bench. Smith has three goals and four assists over his last four contests, giving him five goals, 11 points, 31 shots on net and a minus-7 rating across 22 appearances this season.

Sharks' Will Smith: Three multi-point games in row
Smith scored a goal and added an assist Friday in an 8-5 win over the Kraken.
Smith has three straight multi-point performances, recording two goals and four assists. He has four goals, six helpers and 30 shots through 21 appearances this season. Smith is a brilliant playmaker, but he's making passes his teammates haven't been finishing. His fantasy appeal will increase over time as that changes.

With four points over his last two outings, Smith appears to have found another gear on offense. The 19-year-old rookie has three goals, five assists, 28 shots on net and a minus-11 rating, and four of his eight points have come on the power play.

Sharks' Will Smith: Notches two helpers in win
Smith recorded a pair of assists, including one on the power play, in Monday's 7-2 win over the Kings.
Smith snapped a three-game slump with the pair of helpers on consecutive tallies early in the third period. The 19-year-old remained on the wing Monday -- while center Mikael Granlund (upper body) exited the lineup, the Sharks also welcomed back another pivot in Nico Sturm. Smith is up to six points, 24 shots on net and a minus-12 rating over 19 contests. He has sat out one game in all four of the Sharks' back-to-back sets so far, so fantasy managers should expect him to sit out either Friday or Saturday during a home-and-home against the Kraken.

Sharks' Will Smith: Manages power-play assist
Smith produced a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Penguins.
Smith has been limited to two assists over six outings in November. The 19-year-old has also moved to the wing with the Sharks healthy down the middle. Smith has four points, 18 shots on net and a minus-10 rating through 15 contests. He'll likely continue to see middle-six minutes when in the lineup. Smith is probable to sit out a game this week, as the Sharks have a road back-to-back in Dallas on Wednesday and St. Louis on Thursday. He has yet to play both halves of a back-to-back this season.

Sharks' Will Smith: Snags helper in overtime win
Smith registered an assist in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Smith set up Jack Thompson's first NHL tally late in the first period. With three points over his last three games, it appears Smith is starting to find his way in the NHL. The rookie center has added 15 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-3 rating over 11 appearances this season. While he's not expected to play every game early on, he should continue to see middle-six minutes and power-play time when in the lineup.

Sharks' Will Smith: Tallies first two goals
Smith scored twice on three shots, including one power-play goal, in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Smith hadn't logged a point in his first eight NHL appearances. The 19-year-old center changed that, opening the scoring in the first period and then adding a power-play game-winner midway through the second. He's added 14 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-3 rating over nine contests. Smith has sat out three times so far, including one game in each of the Sharks' first two back-to-back sets. He will likely continue to have his minutes managed as he adjusts from the NCAA schedule to a full-length NHL campaign, so don't be surprised to see him be a healthy scratch with some regularity.

Sharks' Will Smith: Healthy scratch Friday
Smith will be a healthy scratch Friday in Winnipeg, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
The Sharks have decided to ease Smith into his first year in the NHL, as it is a long schedule, and are making him sit out the second game of back-to-back contests after playing Thursday in Chicago. The Ducks did the same thing last season with Leo Carlsson. so expect this to happen with some frequency the rest of the campaign with the highly-regarded Smith. The youngster has yet to hit the scoresheet in four games.

Smith inked a three-year, entry-level contract with San Jose on Tuesday.
Smith put together a fantastic freshman campaign with Boston College this season, racking up 25 goals and 46 assists in 41 appearances for the Eagles. Rather than returning for another year, the 19-year-old center will make the jump to the professional ranks ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
