Wild's Hunter Jones: Signs one-year contract
Jones signed a one-year, two-way contract with Minnesota on Friday, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.
Jones will receive $787,500 in the NHL and $70,000 at the minor-league level in 2023-24. Jones played 38 ECHL games with Iowa last season, going 11-17-9 with a 3.07 GAA and a .905 save percentage. At this stage, Jones is just a depth goaltender in the Minnesota farm system.

Jones was promoted from AHL Iowa to the taxi squad Sunday.
Jones appeared in one AHL Iowa contest during his recent minor-league stint, saving 27 of 29 shots and taking home the win over AHL Cleveland. The Wild are scheduled for three games this week, starting with Colorado on Monday. Should Cam Talbot (lower body) remain sidelined, Jones will be a likely candidate to play understudy to Kaapo Kahkonen in Monday's game.

Jones has yet to make his NHL debut. The Wild may be moving the netminder in anticipation of Cam Talbot's (lower body) return. Minnesota isn't scheduled to play until Friday against Anaheim, if Talbot is still sidelined at that time, the 21-year-old may be called-up as quickly as he was sent down.

Jones' promotion is a result of multiple goaltender moves to fill the vacancy left in Cam Talbot's (lower body) absence. He will serve as an emergency backup should another Wild netminder lose eligibility to compete. The Ontario-native has yet to make his NHL debut.
