  • Ryan Borucki RP | PIT

Pirates' Ryan Borucki: Rehab picking up

Borucki (wrist) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

The session marked Borucki's first time throwing off a slope since hitting the injured list. He has additional bullpens set for Saturday and Tuesday, after which he may be ready to begin a rehab assignment.

  • Marco Gonzales SP | PIT

Pirates' Marco Gonzales: Tosses bullpen session

Gonzales (forearm) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Wednesday's session marked Gonzales' first time throwing off a slope since hitting the injured list. He's expected to continue to ramp up with side sessions before heading out on what will presumably be a lengthy rehab assignment.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Drives in two in loss

Cruz went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

The 25-year-old shortstop tied up the game with a two-run single off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning. Cruz now has eight RBI over his last seven games and his batting average in June has been a solid .286. He will carry a .248/.300/.432 slash line with nine home runs and 28 RBI into a weekend series at Colorado.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Hits go-ahead home run

Donovan went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win versus the Pirates.

Donovan took Mitch Keller deep in the sixth inning for what turned out to be the game's winning run. He extended his hitting streak to eight games and snapped a streak of 26 games without a homer in the process. The 27-year-old has gone 10-for-30 (.333) during his hitting streak and now carries a .248/.325/.380 slash line with five home runs and 29 RBI for the season.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Scratched from lineup

Seager was scratched from the Rangers' lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The reason for Seager's removal from the lineup is unknown, but the Rangers should offer an explanation relatively soon. In the meantime, Travis Jankowski will step in as Texas' designated hitter with Josh Smith starting at shortstop.

  • Cavan Biggio 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Cavan Biggio: Making another start versus righty

Biggio is in the lineup at third base and batting eighth Thursday versus the Rangers.

Biggio is getting his second start at third base for the Dodgers after going 1-for-3 in his debut for the team Wednesday. Thursday's start comes against righty Michael Lorenzen on the mound for the Rangers. With Max Muncy remaining on the injured list and Enrique Hernandez sitting versus a righty, it appears Biggio will be the primary option at third versus right-handers. Hernandez was filling the role as the everyday third baseman with Muncy out, but has been lackluster versus righties.

  • Willie Calhoun DH | LAA

Angels' Willie Calhoun: Getting breather Thursday

Calhoun isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game against Arizona, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

After a 2-for-5 performance during the Angels' win Wednesday, Calhoun will take a seat for the series finale Thursday. His absence will move Taylor Ward into the DH spot while Kevin Pillar starts in left field.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Blasts homer in win

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win vs the Pirates.

Goldschmidt plated the first runs of this one taking Mitch Keller deep in the third inning. With the long ball he snapped a 14-game homerless drought. The veteran now has a hit in 11 of his last 12 games, but still has just five RBI over his last 15 games. The first baseman has a .226/.299/.354 slash line with eight home runs and 27 RBI through 65 games this season.

  • Taylor Ward LF | LAA

Angels' Taylor Ward: Returns to lineup Thursday

Ward (back) is serving as the Angels' designated hitter and batting third Thursday versus the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Ward was taken out of Tuesday's game due to back tightness and had to miss Wednesday's contest as well, but the issue has now seemingly subsided. Since June 1, the 30-year-old outfielder has gone just 4-for-28 with two RBI and scored two runs while striking out eight times in nine games.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Out of lineup versus righty

Hernandez isn't in the Dodgers' lineup versus the Rangers on Thursday.

Hernandez is on the bench again with righty Michael Lorenzen on the mound for the Rangers. Recently acquired Cavan Biggio has the start at third and is batting eighth Thursday. Hernandez, who was serving as the primary third baseman in Max Muncy's absence, will now seem to just fill that role against lefties while Biggio will start against righties. For the season, Hernandez has a .724 OPS against lefties, but a .493 OPS against righties.
