Bowman cleared waivers and elected free agency Friday.
The Mariners designated Bowman for assignment Tuesday and after going unclaimed, the 33-year-old will try his luck on the open market. He's already seen action with three MLB clubs this season, combining to pitch 15.0 innings with a 5.40 ERA during stints with Arizona, Minnesota and Seattle.
