Friedl will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Red Sox.
Friedl missed two games after his hamstring tightened up on him Monday, but he's ready to go now following the Reds' team off day Thursday. Although he's slashed just .214/.320/.381 so far in an injury-shortened season, Friedl does have four home runs and six stolen bases over 97 plate appearances.
