The Orioles declined Coulombe's $4 million club option for 2025 on Monday. This is a surprise, as Coulombe boasts a 2.56 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 90:17 K:BB over 81 innings across the last two seasons with the Orioles. The 35-year-old did miss a chunk of 2024 following surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow, but he returned late in the year to make five scoreless appearances in the regular season and another scoreless outing in the playoffs. Coulombe could be able to land a multi-year contract this offseason.... See More ... See Less

Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Back from 60-day IL
The Orioles activated Coulombe (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Coulombe had surgery in mid-June to remove bone chips from his pitching elbow, but he's made it back in time to get in a few appearances down the stretch of the regular season. The lefty was dynamite earlier this season before getting hurt, posting a 2.42 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB over 26 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Beginning rehab Wednesday
Coulombe (elbow) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday according to pitching coach Drew French, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Coulombe threw a live batting practice session Tuesday and is now ready for game action. Considering he's been out since mid-June after undergoing surgery to remove bone chips from his left elbow, it'll likely take a handful of rehab appearances before Coulombe is ready to return to the majors. He remains on track to be activated prior to the end of the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Resumes throwing
Coulombe (elbow) resumed throwing off the mound Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.comreports. Manager Brandon Hyde didn't offer many specifics but did say that Coulombe still has work left to do before returning from the injured list. He is expected back in the second half of September.... Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Moved to 60-day IL
The Orioles transferred Coulombe (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Saturday. Coulombe hasn't been ruled out for the season after undergoing left elbow surgery in June, but he'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster for the time being in order to make room for Vinny Nittoli.... Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Undergoes surgery
Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Wednesday that Coulombe underwent surgery Tuesday to remove bone chips in his left elbow, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Elias said that the Orioles are still hopeful that Coulombe will be able to return to the team's bullpen before the end of the season, though the earliest possible return for the left-hander would likely be sometime in September. A clearer target date for a return timeline may emerge once the 34-year-old is cleared to begin throwing, but he's in line for a long stay on the injured list no matter what.... See More ... Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Gets MRI on elbow
Coulombe said Wednesday that he underwent an MRI on his left elbow but remains optimistic that he'll avoid an extended stay on the 15-day injured list, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Coulombe -- who was placed on the IL on Tuesday with left elbow inflammation -- had Tommy John surgery back in 2011 but noted that the pain he's currently experiencing is in a different area of the elbow. The results of his MRI aren't yet known, but the reliever seems confident that he'll be back in the Baltimore bullpen in relatively short order.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Heads to IL with elbow inflammation
The Orioles placed Coulombe on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left elbow inflammation. Coulombe had given no indication that something might be wrong, having turned in five straight scoreless appearances. It's not clear how long he might be out, but his absence will be felt in the Orioles' bullpen, where he's posted a 2.42 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB over 26 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Collects first win
Coulombe (1-0) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays. He did not issue a walk or strikeout a batter. Coulombe did his part in the top of the ninth inning to keep the game within reach for the Orioles, and Adley Rutschman rewarded him by walking it off with a two-run home run. Coulombe has not allowed a run over his last seven appearances, covering 6.1 innings with a 3:0 K:BB in that span. He's at a 2.16 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 16.2 innings while adding a save, eight holds and a blown save as a reliable high-leverage arm. With Craig Kimbrel's struggles jolting the Orioles into a closer committee, it appears Coulombe remains more of a setup man at this stage of the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Avoids arbitration
Coulombe signed a one-year contract with the Orioles on Monday that includes a club option for 2025. The deal buys out the left-hander's final year of arbitration eligibility, and potentially, his first year of free agency. Coulombe was excellent for Baltimore in 2023, collecting a 2.81 ERA and 58:12 K:BB over 51.1 innings. He'll be a key setup man in the bullpen again in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Ends regular season with loss
Coulombe (5-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out two over one inning, taking the loss Sunday versus the Red Sox. Two of Coulombe's three losses this season occurred over his last five appearances. He's allowed five runs (four earned) across his last 4.2 innings. Despite the late skid, he has a 2.81 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:12 K:BB with two saves and 21 holds through 51.1 innings this season. He'll be a key lefty in Baltimore's bullpen during the playoffs, though Yennier Cano and Tyler Wells are likely the top options for save chances.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Gets walked off Wednesday
Coulombe (5-2) allowed a run on two hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Astros. Coulombe entered this series with a 12-inning scoreless streak, but the Astros have tagged him for two runs across one inning in two appearances. He allowed a double to Yainer Diaz and a walk-off single to Mauricio Dubon in Wednesday's contest. Coulombe has arguably been the Orioles' most consistent lefty reliever this year with a 2.64 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB through 48.2 innings, and he's added two saves and 20 holds over 57 appearances. While he's struggled in the series, he should still be able to hold down a setup role the rest of the way.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Grabs another win
Coulombe (5-1) struck out one over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the win Sunday over the Diamondbacks. Jack Flaherty started to fade in the fifth inning, but Coulombe was able to step in and steady things for the Orioles. They rallied ahead in the sixth, allowing Coulombe to pick up his second win in as many outings. The southpaw has an 8.1-inning scoreless streak going, during which he's posted an 11:2 K:BB with a save and four holds. He's at a 2.51 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 52:10 K:BB over 43 innings this season, though his usage Sunday suggests he's not strictly confined to late-inning work.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Starts rehab assignment
Coulombe (biceps) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday and struck out two batters over a scoreless inning. The reliever is eligible to return from the 15-day injured list Thursday and would appear to be in line to rejoin the Orioles at that time or shortly thereafter. Coulombe has been terrific out of the Orioles bullpen this season, holding a 2.77 ERA and 48:9 K:BB over 39 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Lands on injured list
Coulombe was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left biceps tendinitis. It's a blow to the Orioles' bullpen, as Coulombe has been excellent with a 2.77 ERA and 48:9 K:BB over 39 innings. The hope is that he'll be ready to go when his 15 days are up, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.Joey Krehbiel will take Coulombe's roster spot.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Earns first save
Coulombe picked up the save in Sunday's 5-4 victory over the Marlins. He allowed a run on two hits over two-thirds of an inning. Colombe came on in relief of Eduard Bazardo in the ninth, allowing one inherited runner to score before allowing an RBI double to Dane Myers, cutting Baltimore's lead to 5-4 with two outs. However, Colombe coaxed a lineout from Luis Arraez to strand the tying run on second and pick up the first save of his MLB career. The 33-year-old lefty has been solid for the Orioles this season, pitching to a 2.90 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP over 31 innings. However, he's unlikely to see much more ninth-inning work with Felix Bautista firmly locked in as the closer.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Reinstated from bereavement list
Coulombe was reinstated from the bereavement list Tuesday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Coulombe missed the weekend series in San Francisco but rejoins the Orioles' bullpen for their series in Milwaukee. The left-hander has been terrific this season with a 2.08 ERA and 31:5 K:BB over 21.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Should return Tuesday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Saturday that Coulombe (personal) should return for Baltimore's series against the Brewers starting Tuesday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Hyde was placed on the bereavement list prior to Saturday's game against the Giants in San Francisco. The reliever should be back on the mound early next week with Josh Lester taking Coulombe's place on the roster in the meantime.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Placed on bereavement list

Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Nabs second win
Coulombe (2-1) retired the only batter he faced to earn the win Sunday over the Rangers. Coulombe got Nathaniel Lowe to fly out to end the top of the eighth inning before the Orioles pulled ahead a half-inning later. This was Coulombe's sixth straight scoreless outing, a span in which he's covered 5.2 innings with an 8:1 K:BB. The southpaw seems to have bounced back from his rough patch in early May. He's now at a 2.37 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 27:4 K:BB through 19 innings while adding eight holds and two blown saves. He remains in the setup mix as part of the bridge to closer Felix Bautista....
