  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Getting rare day off

Suarez isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Tuesday will mark Suarez's second absence from the starting lineup this season. The third baseman was still able to log a plate appearance during his first breather April 20 versus the Cubs. With the 33-year-old on the bench Tuesday, Jordan Lawlar is starting at the hot corner and batting ninth.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Slugs 14th long ball

Suarez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three total RBI against the Rockies in a loss Saturday.

Suarez hit a run-scoring single in the first inning, belted a solo homer to left field in the fourth and notched a sacrifice fly in the fifth. The veteran third baseman has racked up three RBI in each of his past three contests and now has driven in 37 runs this season, tied for fourth most in the majors. Suarez is also tied with teammate Corbin Carroll with 14 home runs and is well ahead of pace to finish with 30-plus long balls for the sixth time in his career.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Drives in three in win

Suarez went 1-for-3 with three RBI in Friday's 8-0 win over Colorado.

Suarez brought home a run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning and then had a two-run single in the seventh. It was the second straight game with three RBI for Suarez, who has three home runs and 11 RBI over the last seven contests. The batting average (.213) isn't pretty, but Suarez has delivered for Arizona with runners in scoring position (1.151 OPS). He's tied with Geraldo Perdomo for the team lead with 34 RBI.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Homers again

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Dodgers.

Suarez gave starter Corbin Burnes a little more breathing room with his sixth-inning home run. It was the second homer in as many games for Suarez, who ranks tied for second in MLB with 12 homers. He also extended an on-base streak to six contests (7-for-20, four walks), which has lifted Suarez's batting average to .211, its highest point since April 4.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Homers in Friday's loss

Suarez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI, two walks and three total runs scored in Friday's 14-11 loss to the Dodgers.

The first-inning homer was Suarez's first since his historic four-homer game versus Atlanta on April 26. The third baseman has a trio of multi-hit efforts in May, going 8-for-33 (.242) with six RBI over nine games this month. On the season, he's batting .210 with an .808 OPS, 11 homers, 26 RBI, 24 runs scored, six doubles and one stolen base. Suarez rarely hits for a good average anymore, but he can tap into power when he gets in a groove.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Drives in two

Suarez went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Mets.

Since homering four times (five RBI) in a game last week, Suarez entered Monday in a 4-for-28 (.143) funk with one RBI over the subsequent seven games. That's been the story of his season -- a spasm of production followed by slumps. Seventeen of his 23 RBI were produced in just four contests. Suarez has spent most of the season below the Mendoza Line and is batting .198 over 35 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Posts 19th four-homer game in history

Suarez went 4-for-4 with four home runs and five RBI in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning loss to Atlanta.

Suarez became the 19th player in major-league history with a four-homer game, and the first to do it since J.D. Martinez accomplished the feat Sept. 4, 2017, also as a member of the Diamondbacks. Suarez is the third player to hit four homers in a loss, joining Philadelphia's Ed Delahanty in 1896 and Atlanta's Bob Horner in 1986. This was also the second-fewest RBI in a four-homer game, only one better than Seattle's Mike Cameron, who hit four solo shots versus the White Sox on May 2, 2002. Suarez completed the feat from the No. 6 spot in the lineup, but Arizona's 1-5 hitters went a combined 1-for-18 with five walks in front of him. The historic performance gave Suarez the major-league lead with 10 long balls this season. He's added 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and a stolen base but is batting just .202 over 27 contests this season. He has shown signs of improvement, hitting safely in six of the last eight games while going 9-for-27 (.333) in that span.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Productive night at plate in loss

Suarez went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two walks in Friday's loss to Atlanta.

Suarez has really struggled recently, so it was encouraging to see him put together a productive outing at the plate. Over his last 14 contests, the slugging third baseman is hitting just .180 (9-for-50) with one home run, three doubles, four RBI and six runs scored. Suarez, who entered Friday's action with an elite 58.6 percent hard-hit rate, hit five homers over his first five games of the campaign, which presents a glimpse of the type of power upside he offers in fantasy leagues in spite of his recent slump.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Receiving first day off

Suarez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Cubs.

It's the first day off of the season for Suarez, who has six home runs and six RBI through 21 games but is batting just .145 with a 33.3 percent strikeout rate. Garrett Hampson is starting at third base Sunday while Tim Tawa mans the keystone.

  • Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Breaks homer, RBI drought

Suarez went 1-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 13-11 loss to the Cubs.

A quiet game for six innings busted out in the seventh and eighth innings, when the two teams combined to score 21 runs. Suarez hit a grand slam as part of Arizona's 10-run eighth inning. He'd gone 14 games (5-for-49) without a home run or RBI prior to Friday. Suarez is batting .153/.265/.444 with six homers and 15 RBI through 20 games.

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 10-4 win over Miami.

Suarez helped carry the Diamondbacks through the season's opening week but has hit the skids since. After launching his fifth home run in the fifth game of the season, Suarez is batting .098 (4-for-41) with zero RBI and 17 strikeouts over the subsequent 12 contests.
