The Twins announced Buxton was removed from Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Phillies with a right forearm contusion. He went 1-for-3 with a double before exiting after seven innings.

Buxton was struck by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh, and though he was able to take his base, he was pulled from the contest when the Twins went out to play defense in the top of the eighth. Fortunately for Buxton, preliminary X-rays revealed no fracture to his forearm, so he can be viewed as day-to-day heading into the Twins' upcoming series with the Tigers that begins Friday.

Buxton is starting in center field and batting third Saturday versus the Brewers.

Buxton was absent from the Twins' lineup for the team's final two games prior to the All-Star break, but he'll be back in action Saturday. A streaky hitter, Buxton has been on a tear since early June, batting .376 with six home runs, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored and three stolen bases over his last 101 at-bats. • Twins' Byron Buxton: Sitting in second straight contest

Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Buxton is on the bench for a second straight contest to close out of the Twins' first-half schedule, but manager Rocco Baldelli hasn't suggested that an injury is behind the consecutive absences. However, Buxton notably collided with the outfield wall while pursuing a flyball in Friday's 7-1 loss, and though he was able to finish the game, it's possible he could be dealing with some bumps and bruises. In any case, the Twins will take advantage of the upcoming All-Star break to build in some extended rest for Buxton, who hasn't been the most durable player over his career. Before sitting out Saturday's 4-2 win, Buxton had been swinging a hot bat in July, slashing .452/.500/.742 over eight games so far this month.
