  • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Idle again

Naylor is out of the lineup Friday against Toronto.

  • Guardians' David Fry: Idle Friday

Fry is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.

After making three straight starts -- one at catcher, two at DH -- Fry will take a seat Friday. Steven Kwan will DH and lead off while Austin Hedges catches and bats ninth. After batting .383 with seven homers in May, Fry has cooled off significantly in June, batting .208 without a home run in 52 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Angel Martinez: Set for first MLB stint

The Guardians recalled Martinez from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Martinez will get his first taste of big-league action, stepping onto the 26-man roster with Gabriel Arias tending to personal matters. The 22-year-old slashed .333/.438/.550 with three homers and a 12.1 percent K rate in 17 games at Columbus. He's likely to provide depth at shortstop, second base and third base while up with the Guardians.

  • Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Homers in win

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.

Gimenez entered the contest 0-for-13 over his last three games. The homer was his first since May 22, and it was his first extra-base hit since June 8. The second baseman is at a .257/.310/.357 slash line with five homers, 12 stolen bases, 37 RBI and 37 runs scored through 67 games this season.

  • Guardians' Will Brennan: Clubs two homers

Brennan went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and a double Thursday against the Mariners.

Brennan cranked his first long ball off Luis Castillo in the second to tie the game, then blasted a second off Trent Thornton that provided the winning margin for the Guardians. It was the first career two-homer game for Brennan, who also sandwiched in a ground-rule double in the fourth to give him three extra-base hits on the day. Brennan has caught fire of late as this was the fourth time he's had multiple hits in his last six games, giving him 10 hits in 24 at-bats (.417) with two homers, two doubles, four RBI and six runs scored during that timeframe.

  • Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Collects 22nd save

Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning Thursday, striking out one to earn the save against Seattle.

Clase had allowed earned runs in consecutive appearances June 9 and 11 but has regained his form since, tossing his third consecutive clean outing Thursday to close out the game for the Guardians. Clase ranks first in the American League with 22 saves, ranking behind only Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals, as the latter has 24 to lead the major leagues. Through 35.1 innings this season, Clase has allowed only three earned runs for an ERA of 0.76 with a 0.62 WHIP and 36 strikeouts.

  • Guardians' Logan Allen: Earns eighth win

Allen (8-3) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out two.

Allen did not start off well, allowing a leadoff single to J.P. Crawford followed by a homer to Dylan Moore, but he allowed just one more run the rest of the way to earn his eighth win and complete his fifth quality start of the season. Allen, who also hit a batter on the day, continues to struggle with missing bats, having struck out just eight batters over the last three starts spanning 17 innings after having struck out 51 across 58.2 innings during his first 12 outings. Despite the dearth of strikeouts during this most recent stretch, Allen's ERA stands at 3.17 over the last three games as opposed to 5.83 during the 12 games prior. Things will not get easier for his next start as he's currently scheduled to take on the Orioles in Baltimore.

  • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Getting afternoon off

Naylor is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Naylor had either started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Guardians' last five contests, so he'll be getting a breather Thursday while Cleveland wraps up its series with Seattle with a day game after a night game. David Fry will step in behind the plate while Naylor rests.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Picks up first steal

Schneemann went 0-for-3 with a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

Schneemann has gained traction in the lineup as a utility player -- Wednesday marked his fifth straight start. He got the nod at shortstop over Brayan Rocchio for this contest. Schneemann has done his part to stay in the lineup by hitting .333 through his first 12 major-league games. He's added four extra-base hits, six RBI, five runs scored, and his steal Wednesday was the first of his career. He also has a 7:9 BB:K so far, with his good plate discipline being a perfect fit for a Guardians team that prioritizes getting on base.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Notches two hits, steal in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

Ramirez has picked up right where he left off following a brief stint on the paternity list. He's gone 4-for-9 with two RBI and two runs scored over two games since he returned. The third baseman continues to do a little bit of everything for the Guardians with a .275/.333/.531 slash line, 18 home runs, 12 steals, 64 RBI and 53 runs scored through 68 contests this season. Naylor has hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 10-for-26 with three homers and seven RBI. While Naylor's current .237 average is well below last year's .308 mark, he has a .272 expected batting average and is just one homer shy of tying his career high of 20 in 2022.

Kwan continues to rake since his return from a hamstring injury May 31, extending his hitting streak to 13 games with eight multi-hit efforts in that span. On the season, he is hitting a ridiculous .397 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 41 runs scored in 205 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Nick Sandlin: Shelved with back inflammation

The Guardians placed Sandlin on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with lower back inflammation, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Sandlin's move to the IL comes three days after he was lit up for three earned runs on three hits and two walks while failing to record an out in his relief appearance in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Blue Jays. The Guardians called up right-hander Darren McCaughan from Triple-A Columbus to replace Sandlin in the bullpen.
