  • Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Knocked around by Marlins

Berrios (16-11) allowed six runs on six hits and three walks over three innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against Miami.

Berrios never found his footing and was chased early. He coughed up three runs in the first inning and two more in the second. His wild pitch in the third inning allowed a sixth run to score before he left the contest. Berrios had allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight straight starts before Friday's hiccup. Despite the poor outing, he posted a strong 2.95 ERA in 12 starts after the All-Star break. Overall, he finished his 2024 campaign with a 3.60 ERA and a 153:54 K:BB through 192.1 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Stuck with hard-luck loss

Berrios (16-10) took the loss Friday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Berrios was excellent Friday, blanking the Rays through five innings before ultimately surrendering a lone run on a Jonathan Aranda solo shot in the sixth. However, that one swing proved enough to stick Berrios with the loss in an eventual 1-0 defeat. The loss snaps a seven-game winning streak for the right-hander, though he's now held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last eight outings, posting a 1.51 ERA in that span. Berrios will carry a 3.38 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 149:51 K:BB into his final start of the year, likely to come at home next week against the Red Sox.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Sharp in seventh straight win

Berrios (16-9) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings in a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out four.

The right-hander needed 97 pitches (62 strikes) to produce his 20th quality start of the season, leaving him one short of the career high he recorded with the Twins in 2019. Berrios has given up two earned runs or fewer in seven straight outings, winning all seven while ringing up a 1.51 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 40:8 K:BB over 47.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Tampa Bay.

  • Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Another strong outing in 15th win

Berrios (15-9) picked up the win over Atlanta on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over six innings while striking out five.

Berrios was efficient throughout his time on the mound, allowing just two hits and a walk through the first four innings before surrendering an RBI single to Michael Harris in the bottom of the fifth. That would be the only run he'd allow in the contest while going on to log his sixth consecutive quality start. The right-hander has also won each of his last six starts, posting a 36:6 K:BB over that stretch. His 15 wins on the campaign have him tied for third in the majors with Seth Lugo.
