  Taylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a walk against the Yankees on Wednesday in a 12-2 victory. Taylor's biggest contribution was a three-run blast in the sixth inning that essentially put the game on ice, giving the Mets a 10-2 lead. It was the outfielder's first homer since April 24 -- a span of 42 games and 94 at-bats. Taylor has made two straight starts in right field with Starling Marte (knee) on the injured list, so he may have a chance to turn around what has so far been a quiet first season as a Met.

  Taylor will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The right-handed-hitting Taylor has started in both of the Mets' first two games in right field since Starling Marte (knee) landed on the 10-day injured list, even as the opposition has sent a righty to the bump both times. DJ Stewart will also be in the right-field mix while Marte is shelved, but Taylor looks to be the preferred option for now.

  Taylor went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Yankees. With Starling Marte (knee) landing on the injured list, Taylor and DJ Stewart are expected to split reps in right field. Instead of using a strict platoon, however, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza elected to deploy the right-handed Taylor against Gerrit Cole on Tuesday, perhaps prioritizing Taylor's superior defense. The 30-year-old is making a case for a bigger role with his bat as well, batting .273 (9-for-33) in June with three doubles, a triple, an RBI and five runs.

  Taylor went 0-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Phillies. Getting the start in center field and hitting leadoff, Taylor didn't have much success at the plate but took advantage in the eighth inning when he reached on a Bryson Stott error, swiping second base and coming around to score on a Harrison Bader single. Taylor has seen sporadic playing time of late as the Mets' fourth outfielder, and through 91 plate appearances on the season he's slashing .256/.278/.372 with two homers, four steals, 10 runs and 13 RBI.

Getting the start in right field and batting seventh, Taylor reeled off his second multi-hit performance of the season while swiping his second base. The 30-year-old has been outstanding so far as the Mets' fourth outfielder, batting .341 (14-for-41) through 15 appearances with a homer, three runs and 10 RBI, and manager Carlos Mendoza hasn't hesitated to give Taylor consistent playing time in the early part of the season.

Taylor recently completed a stretch of five consecutive starts, but his boost in playing time was a byproduct of the Mets facing a left-handed pitcher during that stretch in addition to Brandon Nimmo being limited by a hamstring injury. With Nimmo having since returned to his usual spot in left field and the Mets set to face a third consecutive right-handed starting pitcher Thursday, Taylor has now found himself on the bench for each of those contests.

  Taylor will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Taylor will draw his fifth straight start Sunday, but he still doesn't look as though he'll be in store for a regular role with the Mets. Before Sunday, each of his prior three starts came while Brandon Nimmo was limited to designated-hitter duties or held out of the lineup as he managed a hamstring issue, but Nimmo is back in left field for the series finale in Cincinnati. The righty-hitting Taylor will stick in the lineup versus southpaw Andrew Abbott on Sunday while Starling Marte gets a day out of the field and occupies the DH spot, but Taylor's opportunities against right-handed pitching are still likely to be limited now that Nimmo is healthy again.

  Taylor went 2-for-8 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base across both games of Thursday's doubleheader split with the Tigers. The 30-year-old wound up starting both ends of the twin bill, getting the nod in center field and batting eighth in the matinee before shifting to left field and hitting sixth in the nightcap. There were right-handers on the mound in both games for Detroit, which is an encouraging sign Taylor won't be limited to a short-side platoon role this season as the top outfielder off the bench for the Mets. Through four appearances to begin the 2024 campaign, he's batting .214 (3-for-14) and is still looking for his first extra-base hit.

France in the first inning, giving Taylor his first homer of the spring. The 30-year-old is ticketed for a bench spot this season with the Mets and has had a solid camp, batting .296 (8-for-27) with a 2:5 BB:K. Should Taylor get significant playing time in 2024, which isn't out of the question given that neither Starling Marte nor Harrison Bader have played more than 120 games in any of the past three seasons, he could deliver some useful power and speed for fantasy GMs, but his career .239/.294/.451 slash line in the majors highlights his limitations.

Taylor became expendable for the Brewers when they secured top outfield prospect Jackson Chourio to a pre-debut eight-year, $82 million contract earlier this month. Elbow troubles limited Taylor to 81 major-league games in 2023 and he batted just .234 with a .267 on-base percentage across 243 plate appearances when healthy. The home run was Taylor's first since Aug. 23, and he's now hit safely in four of his last five games. For the month he's batting .250 with three RBI and five runs scored.
