Fedde (1-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Astros after giving up one run on six hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out five. Fedde managed to escape two bases-loaded jams, with one coming in the second inning by getting Mauricio Dubon to fly out and another in the fourth after forcing Jose Altuve to fly out. Jake Meyers plated a run on a single in the sixth, but Fedde was able to induce a double play to close his outing on a positive note. Although the veteran right-hander carries a solid 3.43 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through four starts (21 innings), his 10:11 K:BB is a cause for concern heading into next week's tough matchup in Atlanta.... Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Strong outing goes to waste
Fedde came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Pirates, walking four and striking out two over six scoreless, no-hit innings. The right-hander traded goose eggs with Mitch Keller for 88 pitches (51 strikes) before getting lifted in a game that didn't see its first run cross the plate until the 12th inning. Fedde has delivered two quality starts in three trips to the mound to begin the season, and he'll take a 4.20 ERA and 5:8 K:BB through 15 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Astros.... Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Roughed up early in loss
Fedde (1-1) took the loss against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout over three innings. Fedde was torched for five runs in the first inning, including back-to-back home runs from Trevor Story and Wilyer Abreu. His command was off, as he threw only 37 of 65 pitches for strikes and generated just three whiffs. The 32-year-old owns a 7.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 3:4 K:BB through nine innings this season and will try to rebound in a more favorable matchup against the Pirates next week.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Quality start against Twins
Fedde (1-0) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-1 victory over Minnesota, allowing one run on two hits over six innings. He struck out two without walking a batter. While Fedde wasn't dominant, the right-hander generated plenty of weak contact en route to a quality start in his 2025 debut. He tossed an efficient 73 pitches (47 strikes) before exiting, picking up where he left off after a successful return from the KBO in 2024. Fedde is scheduled to make his next start on the road next weekend in Boston.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Having rough spring
Fedde has permitted seven runs on 10 hits, three walks and four strikeouts over 10 innings during Grapefruit League action. Much of the damage came in his last start against the Marlins, when Fedde served up three home runs and six runs over four frames. Fedde had just a 19.7 percent strikeout rate from May on last season and the lack of whiffs has continued this spring. However, while fantasy managers shouldn't count on many strikeouts, Fedde showed last year that he is capable of providing useful ratios.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Getting ball for first spring game
Fedde is scheduled to start the Cardinals' Grapefruit League opener Saturday versus the Marlins, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Fedde is unlikely to cover more than one or two innings Saturday, but he'll get gradually stretched out during spring training and should be ready to handle a typical starter's workload to begin the regular season After returning stateside with a revamped repertoire in 2024 following a one-year stint in Korea, Fedde emerged as a viable mid-rotation arm between stops with the White Sox and Cardinals. Over his 31 starts, the 31-year-old submitted a 3.30 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while punching out 154 batters over 177.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Strikes out 10 batters Wednesday
Fedde (9-9) earned the win over Colorado on Wednesday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over seven innings. Fedde racked up 14 whiffs en route to his 10 punchouts, his most since he fanned 11 batters against the Twins on April 23. The right-hander picked up his second straight quality start, and he gave up two earned runs or fewer in five of his final seven outings. If Fedde doesn't pitch again this season, as expected, he'll finish the campaign with career-best marks in wins (nine), ERA (3.30), WHIP (1.16) and strikeouts (154) while tallying a career-high 31 starts and 177.1 innings.... Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Registers quality start Thursday
Fedde allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out three batters over six innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Thursday. Fedde surrendered a fourth-inning run but otherwise kept the Pirates off the scoreboard. The right-hander finished with his first quality start since Aug. 25 and just his second over his past 10 outings. Fedde's numbers haven't been overwhelming, but his 3.38 season ERA is on pace to easily be the best of his seven-year career.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: No-decision against Jays
Fedde allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the extra-innings loss to Toronto. Fedde tossed three shutout frames before the Blue Jays pushed across three runs in the fourth inning. He's now failed to complete six innings in six of his eight starts since being acquired by the Cardinals. During that span. he's produced a 4.43 ERA, pushing his season mark up to 3.45. Fedde is 0-5 over his last six starts and hasn't won since Aug. 7. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is projected to come at home against the Pirates.... See More ... Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Stuck with tough loss Friday
Fedde (8-9) took the loss Friday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings as the Cardinals fell 6-1 to the Mariners. He struck out one. The right-hander was locked in a scoreless pitchers' duel with Bryce Miller through four innings, but Fedde blinked first and loaded the bases in the fifth on a hit-by-pitch, a single and a walk before Randy Arozarena brought home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly. Matthew Liberatore relieved Fedde and prevented any further damage, but the Cards were never able to tie things back up. Over seven starts with St. Louis, Fedde has a 4.30 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB through 37.2 innings, a far cry from his numbers with the White Sox before being traded. He'll look to find his early-season form in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Toronto.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Collects eight Ks in loss
Fedde (8-8) took the loss Friday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out eight. The St. Louis right-hander's regression with his new ballclub continued in this 96-pitch outing. He struggled the second time through the Yankees lineup, yielding an RBI double to Juan Soto before Austin Wells cracked a two-run homer to right field. After pitching to a 3.11 ERA over 121.2 innings with the White Sox, Fedde sports a 4.64 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 29:12 K:BB across 33 frames for the Cards. He tentatively is scheduled to make his next start at home against the Mariners next weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Fans seven in quality start
Fedde did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings against the Twins. He struck out seven. Fedde tossed his most effective game as a Cardinal, putting together his first quality start in five starts since joining the club. A leadoff homer in the bottom of the first by Willi Castro was the only run Fedde allowed and one of only two hits the Twins could muster off the veteran righty. However, he was also provided little run support and when he was removed, the game was tied at one. Fedde's ERA since joining the Cardinals now stands at 4.23 over 27.2 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place in the Bronx against the Yankees.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Just misses quality start Tuesday
Fedde (8-7) took the loss Tuesday, giving up two runs on six hits and four walks over 5.2 innings as the Cardinals fell 3-2 to the Brewers. He struck out two. The right-hander tossed only 53 of 95 pitches for strikes, and his inefficiency left him one out short of his 11th quality start of the season. Fedde has had a bumpy beginning to his St. Louis tenure after being acquired at the trade deadline, going 1-3 in his first four starts for the team with a 4.98 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB through 21.2 innings. He'll look to get on track in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Allows two homers in loss
Fedde (8-6) took the loss against the Reds on Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over six innings. Fedde generated plenty of weak contact, but he registered only six whiffs on 89 pitches and was burned by two home runs. He has failed to log a quality start in three outings with the Cardinals, yielding 10 earned runs over 16 innings. On the season, the 31-year-old owns a 3.40 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 120:38 K:BB across 137.2 frames and lines up for a home matchup with the Brewers next week.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Bounces back Wednesday
Fedde (8-5) allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings to earn the win over the Rays on Wednesday. Fedde's second start with the Cardinals went much better than his first, as he was able to limit the damage to a single run in the third inning. He allowed five runs over five innings in his team debut last Friday. Overall, the right-hander is at a 3.28 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 118:36 K:BB over 131.2 innings across 23 starts between the White Sox and Cardinals this year. He's projected to make his next appearance at Cincinnati.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Struggles in Cards debut
Fedde (7-5) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out four. All five runs charged to Fedde came in the second inning -- the right-hander allowed five hits in the frame, including a three-run Christian Bethancourt homer and an Ian Happ solo shot. While he was able to finish the outing on a high note, retiring the last 10 batters faced, it certainly wasn't the debut the Cards had in mind. The five runs charged match a season high for Fedde, who posted a 2.85 ERA over his final eight starts (47.1 innings) with the White Sox. Overall, the 31-year-old Fedde sports a 3.34 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 112:34 K:BB through 22 starts (126.2 innings) this season. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week at home versus Tampa Bay.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: First start for St. Louis on Friday
Fedde is scheduled to make his first start with the Cardinals on Friday versus the Cubs in Chicago, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Before being acquired from the White Sox on Monday, Fedde made his final start with the Pale Hose this past Saturday. Following Monday's trade, Fedde won't join the Cardinals in St. Louis before their series with the Rangers comes to an end Wednesday, as he'll instead remain in Chicago while waiting for his new teammates to arrive Thursday. Fedde went 7-4 with a 3.11 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over his 21 starts with the White Sox this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Acquired by St. Louis
The Cardinals acquired Fedde, outfielder Tommy Pham and a player to be named later or cash considerations on Monday in a three-team trade involving the White Sox and Dodgers, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The White Sox acquired infielder/outfielder Miguel Vargas, infielders Alexander Albertus (undisclosed) and Jeral Perez and a player to be named or cash considerations, while the Dodgers received utility man Tommy Edman (wrist) and right-handers Michael Kopech and Oliver Gonzalez. Fedde has had a breakout season in Chicago following one year in Korea and provides an immediate boost to a Cardinals rotation that's struggled for the last several weeks. With the addition of Fedde, Andre Pallante will likely move to the bullpen. Fedde's last start with the White Sox came Saturday, so he could be ready to make his Cardinals debut as soon as Thursday in Chicago against the Cubs.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Erick Fedde: Stumbles versus Seattle
Fedde (7-4) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Saturday. Fedde wasn't sharp, throwing 47 of 79 pitches for strikes in his shortest start of the season. He ran into trouble the second time through the order, as the Mariners put up all three runs on his line in the fourth inning. It was the first time over four starts in July he allowed more than two runs. The right-hander has been a pleasant surprise this year with a 3.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 108:34 K:BB through 121.2 innings over 21 starts. His career high for innings in a year in North America is 138.1 frames back in 2021, but he threw 180.1 innings in the KBO last year, so fatigue down the stretch shouldn't be an issue. Fedde is a likely trade candidate and this may have been his last start in a White Sox uniform.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Erick Fedde: Quality start against Texas
Fedde did not factor into the decision in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five. The veteran righty reached double-digit quality starts, securing his 10th of the season with this outing. The only blemishes on Fedde's evening were solo homers allowed to Marcus Semien and Leody Taveras. The 31-year-old has been a revelation in his return stateside from Korea, pitching to a 2.98 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 104:32 K:BB across 117.2 innings this season. His time in Chicago looks to be limited as he's a significant trade target ahead of next week's trade deadline. Fedde is tentatively set to make his next start for the White Sox against Seattle at home this weekend.... See More ... See Less
