Flexen (2-10) took the loss against the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out three.
Flexen struggled throughout the contest, allowing multiple baserunners in four of the five frames in which he took the mound while throwing just nine of his 23 first pitches for strikes. The right-hander has now allowed multiple runs in six consecutive starts and has failed to get through five innings in each of his last two. Flexen has also issued multiple walks in three straight outings and currently holds an 18:11 K:BB in July to go along with a 5.60 ERA.

Flexen allowed two runs through four innings before the Royals broke out with a five-run fifth. It was the second time he gave up seven runs in a start this year, with the last one coming against the Yankees on May 19. His season ERA jumped from 4.82 to 5.22 with the ugly start and he's produced a lackluster 75:41 K:BB through 101.2 innings. Flexen is currently lined up to start in Texas next week.

Flexen allowed a run in the first inning and was charged with another as an inherited runner came around to score in the seventh. He yielded 10 hard-hit balls on 78 pitches but was able to limit the damage and has now logged three consecutive quality starts despite failing to record a win in any of them. The 30-year-old will take a 4.73 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 71:36 K:BB across 97 innings into the All-Star break.

Flexen served up a solo homer to Trevor Larnach in the first inning but yielded just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Flexen entered the sixth inning in a 3-3 tie, but an error by Paul DeJong led to three unearned runs before he finished the frame at 101 pitches. It wasn't the most appealing quality start, but Flexen has now logged two in his past three outings. Things went poorly for Flexen from the get-go as Shohei Ohtani led off the game with a 376-foot homer to right field. This was a nice bounce-back for Flexen after he allowed six runs (four earned) over 3.1 innings against Arizona in his previous start. Flexen has had a tough time in his first campaign with the White Sox, posting a 5.03 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 73.1 frames.

Both of the hits Flexen allowed went for extra-bases, with David Hamilton notching a solo homer in the fifth inning and Jarren Duran logging a triple in the fourth. In his last three starts, Flexen has allowed nine total hits and owns a 3.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts across 15.0 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in a projected start against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

This was one of Flexen's better outing this season, and it was the first time he issued zero walks since April 19. His good work was all for naught, as relievers Justin Anderson and Tanner Banks gave up a total of four runs in the sixth inning to squander the White Sox's lead. Flexen has gone five starts without a win, and he hasn't completed more than five innings in any of them. He's at a poor 5.19 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB through 59 innings across 13 appearances (11 starts) this year. The right-hander is projected for a home start versus the Red Sox this weekend.

Flexen worked around an Anthony Volpe leadoff double in the first but struggled thereafter with a two-run blast by Aaron Judge with no one out in the fifth serving as the final blow. All told, Flexen allowed seven runs through four-plus innings, with much of the damage coming from the bottom of the Yankees lineup, including a two-run single by the eight-hole hitter, Jose Trevino, in the second and a three-run homer by Jon Berti, batting out of the nine hole, in the fourth. Flexen isn't usually much of a strikeout pitcher, but he fanned eight Rays in the win, doubling his previous season-high mark. In addition, the right-hander notched his second quality start of the campaign and extended his streak of outings with two or fewer runs to five. After giving up 13 earned runs over his first 13.1 frames this season, Flexen has turned things around dramatically, posting a 1.61 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB over 22.1 innings across his subsequent five appearances.
