Gallegos' struggles had worsened in 2024, with the right-hander turning in a 6.53 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over 20.2 innings. The 32-year-old had performed better since returning from the injured list June 21 (2.31 ERA, 1.11 WHIP in 11.2 innings), but teams may still be hesitant to put in a waiver claim on a declining reliever, who is pitching on a $5.75 million salary for 2024.
