He had four hits through seven innings, including an RBI double in the third, before capping off his big night with a solo shot to lead off the ninth. Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Giants. Reynolds went down on strikes in his first two trips to the plate before hitting a single in the top of the eighth. He then jumped on the first pitch he saw from Tyler Rogers in the 10th and sent it into the stands in left field for a two-run shot, putting the Pirates up 3-1. Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Monday that Reynolds is dealing with mid-back discomfort but is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday's season opener versus the Marlins, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Cruz should help with production
Reynolds is expecting to improve his production in 2024 thanks to the return of Oneil Cruz, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. Reynolds has been a consistent producer and managed to top 80 RBI and runs scored last season even with Cruz missing most of the season. The former batted almost exclusively second in the order in 2023 and is projected to bat in the same spot heading into the 2024 campaign.
