Tovar took over as Colorado's leadoff hitter with a lefty on the mound and did his damage in the third inning with an RBI single before coming around to score in the same frame. Tovar went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres.
Tovar doubled to lead off a five-run sixth for the Rockies and then homered to kick off the seventh. He continued his recent hot streak at the plate and now has at least a hit in eight straight games, slashing .343/.361/.686 with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored over that span. The 31.1 strikeout rate is a bit alarming, but Tovar continues to hit toward the top of the lineup and is still making solid contact with a .275 average over 180 plate appearances thus far.

Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.
The Rockies got to Jose Urena early in the first inning, and Tovar's blast was ultimately all they needed in the win. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with four extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.308/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple over 39 contests.

Tovar has been struggling to hit for power across the last few weeks, as he had only three extra-base hits (all doubles) across his last 21 starts entering Thursday's game. He managed to end that drought against the Giants, as he tallied both a double and a triple in the fourth inning when the Rockies batted around. Tovar will take a seat for the first time all season after starting in each of Colorado's first 33 games, enabling Alan Trejo to enter the lineup at shortstop. Tovar went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Colorado's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Mariners in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.
Tovar notched the Rockies' first hit of the game in the bottom of the first inning before later adding two more base knocks, including an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th frame, knotting the game up at 1-1. The 22-year-old has now notched two three-hit performances over the last three contests, while Sunday's matinee was his eighth multi-hit outcome on the year. Tovar is batting .321 with three homers, 11 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases over 81 at-bats in 21 games this season.

Tovar extended Colorado's lead to 8-2 with a solo homer off Paolo Espino in the seventh inning, his third long ball of the year. It's Tovar's fourth straight multi-hit game and his sixth in his last seven contests -- he's gone 13-for-29 with three doubles and two homers in that span. The 22-year-old Tovar is now batting .340 with a .975 OPS, three home runs, eight RBI and two stolen bases through his first 53 at-bats this season.
