  • Athletics' Zack Gelof: Reaches 25-steal mark

Gelof went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Mariners.

Gelof's bat has faded late in the season -- he's 6-for-40 (.150) over his last 11 games with two steals in that span. The second baseman is up to 25 steals on 28 attempts this year, offering some positives with his speed despite a difficult campaign at the plate. He's added a .211/.271/.364 slash line with 17 home runs, 49 RBI, 59 runs scored, 20 doubles and two triples over 136 contests.

  • Athletics' Zack Gelof: Scores game-winning run Tuesday

Gelof went 1-for-3 with an RBI sacrifice fly, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Gelof snapped a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning with his sacrifice fly, which plated Shea Langeliers. He eventually scored the game-winning run on Jacob Wilson's walk-off single in the penultimate night game for the Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. The eventful night was an extension of a productive all-around month for Gelof despite some persistent contact issues, as he's generated a .278 average, .715 OPS, eight extra-base hits, seven RBI, five steals and nine runs across 84 September plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Zack Gelof: Another three hits Saturday

Gelof went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a walk in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

Gelof continued terrorizing White Sox pitching in the narrow loss, following up a 2-for-4 night that had included an RBI double in Friday's series opener. Gelof now has hit safely in nine of the last 10 games and has multi-hit efforts in four of the last six contests, finally displaying some of the offensive potential he'd shown during his rookie 2023 campaign following a mostly difficult first five months of this season.

  • Athletics' Zack Gelof: Stays hot in win

Gelof went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a win over the White Sox on Friday.

Gelof provided one of only two extra-base knocks for the Athletics while generating his third multi-hit effort in the last five games. Gelof's bat has seemingly woken from its season-long slumber in September, as he kicked off the month with a three-hit tally and has posted a .304 average, .812 OPS, six extra-base hits, four RBI, four steals and six runs across 48 plate appearances. His contact issues persist -- even in that productive sample, he's still struck out at a 31.3 percent clip -- but he's been able to raise his season average to .212, a meager figure that's nevertheless at its highest point since July 9.

Gelof went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-1 loss to the Tigers.

The second baseman has had a rough first full campaign in the majors, though a hot September wouldn't be unusual, as he slashed .273/.350/.455 over his last 28 games in 2023. This year, he's at a .209/.272/.369 slash line with 16 home runs, 22 steals, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored through 120 contests.
