Player Outlook
Ramon Urias popped 16 home runs and won a Gold Glove as a semi-regular for the Orioles in 2022. He was used in a similar role for the American League East champs in 2023, but Urias' home run output was quartered and his defensive metrics also took a major hit. Where that leaves the 29-year-old heading into 2024 is uncertain, as Urias has seemingly already been passed up by some younger, more talented infielders and the organization also has more on the precipice. At his best, Urias has been an above-average hitter with an above-average glove. His fantasy appeal looks pretty limited, though, as he doesn't stand out anywhere and is facing uncertainty about his role.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Taking seat Tuesday

Urias is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Urias had drawn three consecutive starts at third base, but he'll give way to Jordan Westburg on Tuesday. During those three starts, Urias went 0-for-10 and snapped a seven-game hit streak.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Draws third straight start

Urias will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Guardians. Urias looks to be gaining traction in Baltimore's everyday lineup, as he'll pick up his third straight start Monday and fifth start in six games. The uptick in playing time has corresponded with Urias' surge at the plate; dating back to May 27, he's slashing .293/.349/.517 over a stretch of 19 games. Jorge Mateo looks to be the primary loser from a playing-time perspective from Urias' uptick in starts, as he'll hit the bench Monday for the third time in five games.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Lifts fourth homer

Urias went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Yankees. Urias went deep in the fifth inning for his first homer since June 3. The infielder has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. He had to settle for a utility role early in the year, but he's been staking a larger claim with strong hitting in June. For the season, Urias is slashing .252/.298/.421 with four homers, 10 RBI, 15 runs scored and no stolen bases over 114 plate appearances. He may be set for a short-term bump in playing time if Jordan Westburg (hip) has to sit out more games following his injury Tuesday.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Retreating to bench Thursday

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta. Urias had started in each of the past four games, but two came while Jorge Mateo was out with a concussion and one came while Jordan Westburg received a rest day. Mateo and Westburg are both in the lineup Thursday and are slated to serve as the Orioles' primary starters at second base and third base, respectively, so Urias' opportunities could become more limited moving forward.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Drawing fourth straight start

Urias will start at third base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Urias will stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row, but his playing time should begin to trend down after Jorge Mateo returned from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. Though Mateo will occupy the keystone Wednesday, Urias will maintain a spot in the infield since everyday third baseman Jordan Westburg will get a rare day off.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Hits third homer

Urias hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Monday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jays. Urias started the game on the bench but entered in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement. While he hasn't seen steady playing time, Urias is 6-for-10 with two homers over his last five contests. With Jorge Mateo (concussion) on the injured list, it's likely to be Connor Norby in the lineup regularly, but Urias could feature more frequently off the bench due to his strong defense and versatility. Urias is slashing .239/.289/.394 with three homers, six RBI and 12 runs scored over 76 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Homers in victory

Urias went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two total runs and two total RBI in a 6-1 win against Boston on Wednesday. Urias singled home a run in the second inning and tacked on a solo homer in the seventh. The productive output came in a rare start for the infielder, who was in the lineup for just the third time over the Orioles' past eight games. Urias has struggled to gain traction on offense this season, slashing .219/.265/.344 with two homers, five RBI and 11 runs through 68 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Sitting out third straight

Urias isn't in the Orioles' lineup Saturday against the Reds, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Urias saw an initial uptick in playing time after Jackson Holliday was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk, but Saturday will mark his third consecutive game taking a backseat to Jordan Westburg. Urias is slashing just .167/.184/.250 across 49 plate appearances this season, and his lack of offensive production has likely caused him to slide down on the Orioles' depth chart.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Checks out of starting nine

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees. Though he's seen his playing time in the infield pick up of late after second baseman Jackson Holliday was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk last Friday, Urias will head to the bench Thursday after starting at third base in three of the previous four games. Jordan Westburg will occupy the hot corner Thursday, opening up a spot at the keystone for Jorge Mateo.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Urias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees. The Yankees are throwing southpaw Nestor Cortes, but the right-handed hitting Urias will begin this one on the bench. Jordan Westburg is at third base and Jorge Mateo will handle second base.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Goes deep Sunday

Urias went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Athletics. Urias started two of the Orioles' three games against the A's, as playing time has opened up in the infield following Jackson Holliday's demotion to Triple-A Norfolk. The homer was Urias' first of the season, though that's in part due to his limited usage for much of the season. The utility infielder is slashing .186/.205/.279 with three RBI, five runs scored and a double over 44 plate appearances on the year. Urias, Jordan Westburg (illness) and Jorge Mateo will likely combine to cover second base and third base moving forward.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Starting Friday

Urias is starting at third base and batting ninth Friday against the Athletics, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. The 29-year-old has made just two starts over Baltimore's past 14 games, but he's back in the lineup Friday and should have a more regular role after top prospect Jackson Holliday was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. Urias had a .703 OPS in 116 games last season but is off to a slow start in 2024 with a .194/.216/.222 slash line in 37 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Likely to lose work to Holliday

Urias is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. The Orioles had included at least one of Urias and Jorge Mateo in their starting infield in all but one of their first 10 games, but both players look set to lose out on playing time following the promotion of top prospect Jackson Holliday from Triple-A Norfolk. With Holliday expected to handle an everyday role at the keystone, Jordan Westburg should see most of the starts at third base, closing off both of Urias' primary avenues to playing time. Urias has just two hits in his first 22 at-bats of the season.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not starting Sunday

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Urias finds himself on the bench for the second straight day, though he's still started five of Baltimore's first nine games this season. Jordan Westburg will again move to third base while Jorge Mateo handles the keystone.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Out of Saturday's lineup

Urias is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates. Urias will have Saturday off after starting the two previous games, going 1-for-7 with one run over that span. Jordan Westburg will shift to third base while Jorge Mateo gets the start at second.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Urias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Urias will take a seat Tuesday for the second time in Baltimore's first five games of the season. Jordan Westburg will receive another look at third base while Tony Kemp starts at the keystone.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Takes seat Sunday

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Urias started the first two games of the season but will head to the bench Sunday after going 0-for-7 with a walk, two runs and a strikeout. Jordan Westburg will shift to the hot corner while Jorge Mateo starts at second base.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Making decent impression

Urias has gone 3-for-11 over his first five Grapefruit League games. Urias projects as a potential utility player for the Orioles this season. It's not necessarily anything he's done wrong -- the youth movement is on in Baltimore, leaving him without a defined place in the lineup. Urias could play all around the infield, with second base being the most likely path to regular at-bats, depending on how Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday progress. Kolten Wong is also in camp on a minor-league deal, but he'll likely be more organizational depth that a true threat to Urias' place on the roster.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Settles at $2.1 million

Urias signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Orioles on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Urias slashed .264/.328/.375 with 42 RBI across 396 plate appearances last season. Despite his above-average glove and solid batting average, Urias will likely struggle to find regular playing time behind the myriad of talented young prospects the Orioles have on their roster.

  • Orioles' Ramon Urias: Returns from illness

Urias (illness) is starting at third base and batting eighth Saturday against the Red Sox. Urias was a late scratch from Friday's lineup after coming down with an illness, but he has seemingly recovered and will get the nod at the hot corner Saturday. The 29-year-old infielder has collected four hits over his last three games while coming across to score once.
