    Rooker extended the A's lead to 2-0 in the third inning with a 412-foot solo shot off Kyle Hendricks before blasting a two-run shot off Ryan Zeferjahn in the seventh. The 30-year-old Rooker had gone 10 games without a home run coming into Wednesday's contest, though he still went 22-for-59 (.373) with a 1.075 OPS in his last 15 games. Overall, Rooker's slashing .276/.342/.498 with 15 homers, 41 RBI and 44 runs scored through 307 plate appearances this season.

    Rooker opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning of what turned into a blowout.     Getting the start in right field, the 30-year-old slugger took Carlos Rodon deep in the third inning to give the A's a 4-0 lead, and Rooker his 10th homer of the season. It was his fifth appearance of the season in the outfield, crossing an eligibility threshold in some fantasy formats, but his bat plays at any position.     Rooker has racked up five multi-hit efforts over his last 10 games, going 12-for-39 (.308) in that span. He's not known for his speed, so it was surprising to see him log a pair of steals in this contest, which were his first two thefts of the season. The three-hit effort boosted his batting average to .255, and he's added an .820 OPS, nine home runs, 19 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple over 37 contests.     The game was tied 1-1 entering the ninth inning, when Rooker unknotted the score with a two-run blast to left field. The Athletics tacked on four more runs later in the frame on a Lawrence Butler grand slam to secure the victory and move back above .500. Rooker had gone seven games without a long ball before Wednesday's blast, but he's been swinging an effective bat of late with three multi-hit performance across his past four contests.
