Royals' Drew Waters: Totals eight bases
Waters went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.
Waters broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with a leadoff home run, his first of the season, and followed that up with his first triple of the year in the eighth. He's totaled five hits, three runs and two RBI over his last two games and has upped his batting average to .273 after it sat at .160 on April 19.

Royals' Drew Waters: Making sixth straight start
Waters will start in right field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game versus the Rockies.
It's the sixth straight start for Waters, who has played all three outfield positions during the stretch. The 26-year-old is just 4-for-18 at the plate over the previous five tilts, so he'll need to pick it up offensively if he hopes to continue seeing regular reps.

Royals' Drew Waters: Moves up from Triple-A
The Royals recalled Waters from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.
Waters has slashed .229/.306/.396 across 137 games during his time with the Royals over the past three seasons. He will serve as a backup at all three outfield spots while he's in the big leagues.

Royals' Drew Waters: Optioned to Triple-A
The Royals optioned Waters to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Waters batted just .188 with a 46.2 percent strikeout rate this spring to earn a trip back to Omaha. Dairon Blanco and Mark Canha will open the season as the Royals' reserve outfielders.

Royals' Drew Waters: In mix for backup role
Waters is in the mix for an outfield bench role along with Nick Pratto, Dairon Blanco (Achilles) and Joey Wiemer, MLB.com reports. He's hitting .167 (2-for-12) this spring.
Blanco is likely the favorite but he's been sidelined this spring with an Achilles injury. The Royals could also decide to keep an extra infielder who can play outfield if needed. Waters hit .293 with 13 home runs, 20 stolen bases and a .877 OPS at Triple-A last season. However, he's never been able to translate his intriguing power-speed mix to success in the majors. As a switch hitter and plus fielder, Waters could be the best bench option if Blanco is out.

The Royals optioned Waters to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for MJ Melendez (ankle), who was reinstated off the 10-day injured list. Waters made four appearances for the Royals after being recalled July 18, going 2-for-8 with one RBI, two runs scored and two walks. In Triple-A this season, Waters is slashing .277/.362/.502 with 10 home runs, 44 RBI and 11 stolen bases across 287 plate appearances.

The Royals recalled Waters from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.
With MJ Melendez (ankle) landing on the injured list Tuesday, Waters will return to Kansas City to give the Royals additional outfield depth coming out of the All-Star break. Kansas City recalled Waters from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Royals' Drew Waters: Doesn't make Opening Day roster
The Royals optioned Waters to Triple-A Omaha on Friday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Waters had a solid spring, but Kyle Isbel was better and already had the perceived leg up for the center field job due to his defense. The switch-hitting Waters should still spend ample time in the majors this season but will begin the year at Omaha.

Royals' Drew Waters: No lock to make big-league roster
Waters could be assigned to Triple-A Omaha if he doesn't win a starting job in spring training, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Waters' development is still important, and consistent at-bats with Omaha would serve him better than acting as a fourth outfielder. The addition of Hunter Renfroe took Waters' starting job away, and Kyle Isbel's defense has made him the favorite for center field. If Waters ends up in the minors to begin 2024, Dairon Blanco is projected to be the Royals' fourth outfielder.

The outfielder has had some growing pains in his first full big-league campaign with a .234/.308/.386 slash line over 94 contests. He's added 16 thefts, eight home runs, 32 RBI and 39 runs scored while seeing a starting role, albeit not an everyday one, down the stretch.

Waters isn't in the Royals' lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
