Top Corbin Burnes News

  • Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Continues to receive little support

Burnes did not factor into the decision Monday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Burnes did not allow an extra-base hit as a walk and two singles in the sixth led to the lone run he allowed. The two strikeouts are the fewest Burnes has recorded in a start during his career and represent the eighth consecutive start in which he's recorded six or fewer K's after opening the season with an 11-strikeout effort. While he's not been as dominant in Baltimore as he was in Milwaukee, Burnes has still been plenty effective, allowing three or fewer runs in every start this season. His next outing is tentatively slated to take place this weekend when the Blue Jays come to Camden Yards for a three-game set.

  • Orioles' Corbin Burnes: No support in loss

Burnes (3-2) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Nationals.

The three walks matched a season high, and the Nationals proved opportunistic by logging three steals with Burnes on the mound. The right-hander has earned a quality start in five of his eight outings and has yet to give up more than three runs in any of his starts. He's winless over his last three starts but owns a 2.83 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB through 47.2 innings overall. Burnes lines up for a home start versus the Blue Jays in his next outing.

  • Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Tagged with first loss

Burnes (3-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk across six innings against the Yankees. He struck out six

All the damage against Burnes came in the fifth inning when Oswaldo Cabrera launched a two-run home run. Despite allowing three or fewer runs for a seventh straight start, Burnes was stuck with the loss Wednesday as the Orioles offense could only manage three total hits and didn't score. While Burnes has allowed a home run in six of his seven starts this season, he owns a 2.61 ERA over 41.1 innings with 41 strikeouts -- the sixth most in the American League. Burnes is lined up for a start against the Nationals on Tuesday.

  • Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Quality start in no-decision

Burnes did not factor into the decision Friday against Oakland, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out six.

Burnes was solid Friday, holding the A's to a Shea Langeliers solo homer in the first inning. He'd depart with a one-run lead, though Oakland would tie the game off Craig Kimbrel in the ninth before beating the Orioles in extras, leaving Burnes with a no-decision. It's the first quality start in three outings for the 29-year-old right-hander as Burnes failed to make it through six innings in his previous two starts. Overall, he's 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB through six starts (35.1 innings) this season. Burnes is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Yankees next week.
