  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Sitting against righty again

Beck is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. The right-handed-hitting Beck will hit the bench for a second straight game, with both absences from the lineup coming against right-handed pitchers. With a lowly .458 OPS thus far in September, Beck may have lost hold of an everyday role and fallen into the short side of a platoon with Jake Cave.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Getting rest Saturday

Beck isn't in Colorado's lineup Saturday against the Dodgers. Beck struck out twice and was hit by a pitch during Friday's loss, and he'll take a day to regroup Saturday while Jake Cave takes over as Colorado's right fielder.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Posts steal in win

Beck went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks. This was Beck's first multi-hit effort since Aug. 16. He's up to seven steals on the year, recording five of them over his last 19 contests. The outfielder has added a poor .204/.259/.299 slash line with three home runs, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and six doubles over 170 plate appearances across two stints in the majors this year.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Not in Sunday's lineup

Beck is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. Beck started the previous three games and will hit the bench after going 2-for-9 with a solo home run. Jake Cave will enter the lineup in right field and bat second.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Homers Thursday

Beck went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Tigers. Beck opened the scoring in the third inning with a 417-foot blast of Tarik Skubal, putting the Rockies ahead 1-0. It's the third homer of the year for the outfielder, and his first in 22 games since returning from a three-month stay on the injured list. Beck had been scuffling at the plate since the start of September, going just 1-for-17 with a 50 percent strikeout rate in six games prior to Thursday. Overall, he's slashing .201/.256/.299 with 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and six stolen bases across 156 plate appearances with Colorado this season.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Getting Saturday off

Beck isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers. Beck will get a day to collect himself Saturday after going 0-for-11 with eight strikeouts across his last four games. His absence will allow Jake Cave to pick up a start in right field while batting seventh.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Out of Colorado lineup

Beck is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Atlanta. Beck had started the last five and seven of the last eight games, but he will begin this one on the bench. Nolan Jones and Sam Hilliard will occupy the corner outfield spots for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Steals base, scores thrice in win

Beck went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Orioles. Beck reached on a fielder's choice in each of his first two trips to the plate, coming around to score a run on both occasions. He then added an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give Colorado a 6-5 lead before stealing third and eventually coming home for a third time on a Drew Romo groundout. It was the outfielder's second straight game with a stolen base, while his three runs scored in the contest marked a season high. Beck has now hit safely in six of his last seven starts, batting .260 (6-for-23) with a double, an RBI and six runs scored over that stretch.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Not starting Sunday

Beck is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees. Beck finds himself on the bench Sunday for the second straight game, which followed a stretch in which he made nine consecutive starts. The last four of those starts came against left-handed pitching, and he's sitting Sunday as Marcus Stroman is the second straight righty to take the mound for New York. Jake Cave is starting in right field and batting seventh.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Absent from lineup

Beck is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Beck went 1-for-2 with one walk and one strikeout in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Yankees. Since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Aug. 12, he has gone 8-for-28 with five walks, two runs scored and two RBI. Jake Cave will start in right field and bat seventh.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Three hits from bottom of order

Beck went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Padres. Beck has gone 5-for-11 with two RBI over three games since he rejoined the Rockies' 26-man roster. More impressively, he got the start and performed well against a right-handed starter (Matt Waldron) in Friday's contest. Beck is at a .222/.237/.333 slash line with two home runs, 10 RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases over 93 plate appearances in the majors this year. He'll still have to earn an everyday role, but the top prospect looks poised to push Sam Hilliard for playing time in left field.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Beginning rehab assignment

Beck (hand) went 0-for-3 at the plate Tuesday in his first rehab game with the Rockies' Arizona Complex League affiliate. Beck was shelved for nearly two months with a fractured left hand but has finally been cleared for game action. The outfielder will eventually move his rehab up to Triple-A Albuquerque and figures to require a good number of rehab at-bats given how much time he's missed. That said, it appears Beck could be back with the Rockies by early August.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Resuming baseball activity

Beck (hand) is flying back to Arizona on Sunday to begin full baseball activity, MLB.com reports. Beck had been with the team to be evaluated since Tuesday. He hit in the cage and did defensive drills, though none of his activity came at full intensity. Beck will increase his reps upon his return to Arizona, and he remains on track to return at some point around the All-Star break.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Set to be evaluated

Beck (hand) is flying to Denver on Tuesday or Wednesday to be evaluated by team doctors, MLB.com reports. Beck has shed the cast on his hand and has resumed baseball activities, so the visit is presumably to determine the next steps in his recovery. He'll likely need a rehab assignment, which could be on the horizon if things check out well.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Timeline pushed back

The Rockies have adjusted Beck's recovery timeline for his surgically repaired left hand from 4-to-6 weeks to 6-to-8 weeks, MLB.com reports. Beck underwent surgery May 29 to insert a plate into his fractured left hand, so based on the updated timeline, he appears likely to remain sidelined through the All-Star break. Nolan Jones has since beaten him back from the IL, so Beck may not have an everyday role in the Colorado outfield waiting for him once he's activated and could be optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Facing 4-to-6-week timeline

Rockies manager Bud Black recently said that Beck is expected to require 4-to-6 weeks of recovery time after undergoing surgery May 29 to insert a plate into his broken left hand, MLB.com reports. Beck sustained the injury when he made a diving grab in the outfield in a May 25 game against the Phillies. The rookie has yet to resume baseball activities, though he could be cleared to do so in the next week or two if the shorter end of his recovery timeline proves to be accurate. Beck will eventually require a minor-league rehab assignment before he's reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Slated to undergo surgery

Beck is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left hand Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Beck suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand Saturday, and he will need to go under the knife to repair the fracture. A return timetable has not been offered up by the team, but Beck is expected to miss extended time as a result of the injury. While his big-league career hasn't gotten off to a great start, Beck has positioned himself among the team's top prospects with his performance at the upper levels of the minors. He should get another long look when healthy.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Chance to keep playing time

Beck went 0-for-4 with a stolen base Tuesday against the Athletics. Beck has been a regular starter since being promoted April 30, though it appeared that his playing time would be squeezed with the returns of Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones (back/knee). However, Jones suffered a setback on his rehab assignment and Sean Bouchard was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Bryant to be activated. That keeps the door open for Beck to maintain regular playing time, though he has just a .212/.212/.348 line across his first 66 plate appearances in the majors.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Likely to join big club

The Rockies are expected to promote Beck from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of Tuesday's game in Miami, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. The 23-year-old is likely to join the big club as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Nolan Jones, who is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list after he experienced a recurrence of back stiffness in Sunday's loss to the Astros. Beck will presumably take on an everyday role in his first taste of the big leagues, as he's regarded as one of the Rockies' top prospects and won't be promoted just to serve as a depth player. He had gotten off to a hot start to the season at Albuquerque, slashing .307/.405/.594 over 121 plate appearances while slugging five home runs and going 5-for-5 on stolen-base attempts.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Ready for Double-A

Beck has been promoted from High-A Spokane to Double-A Hartford. This was a necessary promotion for Beck, who was too old (22) and talented to be playing at High-A anymore. He slashed .292/.378/.566 with 20 home runs and 11 steals in 76 games for Spokane. Beck posted a solid 20.8 percent strikeout rate at High-A but has struck out five times in his first nine plate appearances for the Yard Goats.
