  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Reinstated from paternity list

The Rangers reinstated Duran from the paternity list Friday. Duran missed the Rangers' last three games while on paternity leave, but the 25-year-old will be available for the upcoming weekend series against the Angels. For the month of September, Duran has slashed .288/.327/.442 with five doubles, one home run and six RBI across 55 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Placed on paternity list

The Rangers placed Duran on the paternity list Tuesday. Duran will be allowed to miss up to three games while he spends time with his growing family, and he's expected to take over for Josh Jung (wrist) as the Rangers' primary third baseman once he returns. In the meantime, Dustin Harris and Matt Duffy will come up from Triple-A Round Rock to help replenish Texas' infield depth.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Getting rest Tuesday

Duran isn't in Texas' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics. After going 6-for-13 with an RBI during the Rangers' last series against Seattle, Duran will catch a breather to begin Tuesday's series opener. In his absence, Jonathan Ornelas will start at third base and bat ninth.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Starts at third base

Duran started at third base and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Mariners. Duran got the nod at the hot corner as Josh Jung (wrist/hand) was unavailable for a second consecutive game. Jonathan Ornelas and Duran have filled in for Jung the last two games and could finish out the season in that role. Saturday's loss eliminated the Rangers from the postseason, which could prompt the team to shut down Jung for the rest of the season.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Duran is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays. Duran started the previous three games but will sit Tuesday while in the midst of a 1-for-15 slump. Justin Foscue will bat ninth as the designated hitter versus Toronto righty Chris Bassitt.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Back on bench Thursday

Duran is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Seattle. Duran has been picking up starts at a multitude of positions since Corey Seager (hip) landed on the 10-day injured list. Until Thursday, Duran had made five consecutive starts, but he went hitless in the last two games as the designated hitter. Adolis Garcia is in the lineup as the designated hitter Thursday while Josh Smith is starting at shortstop.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes fourth consecutive start

Duran started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Tuesday's 6-0 loss to Arizona. Duran made a fourth consecutive start and sixth over the last seven contests. During that run, he's played left field, second base, shortstop, third base and DH while going 7-for-20 with four extra-base hits, two walks, five RBI and five runs scored. The opportunities could dry up when Corey Seager (hip) returns.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Clubs third homer

Duran went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Angels. Duran has hit safely in all five of his games in September, going 7-for-18 (.389) with a homer, five RBI and three doubles in that span. His blast stretched the Rangers' lead to 4-0 in the second inning Sunday. Duran is up to a .256/.295/.336 slash line with three homers, 19 RBI, 24 runs scored, nine doubles and one stolen base over 237 plate appearances this season. Duran has filled a utility role in the infield with the Rangers using a handful of players as replacements for Corey Seager (hip) at shortstop. In September alone, Duran has seen starts at second base, third base, shortstop and in left field.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Starts at shortstop Friday

Duran started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Angels. The Rangers have used a few bodies to cover shortstop since Corey Seager (hip) was placed on the 10-day injured list. Duran, who joined Jonathan Ornelas and Josh Smith as part of the fill-in crew, has hit safely in three consecutive games and is batting .250 (10-for-40) since returning the majors in late July. He was a competent bench bat for the 2023 World Series champions but has been unable to repeat that level of production in 2024.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Two doubles in three-hit effort

Duran went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Yankees. Duran saw sparse playing time during August after Wyatt Langford and Josh Jung returned from injuries. This was Duran's third multi-hit effort in his last 15 games, a span in which he's gone 8-for-31 (.258). He could be in the mix for playing time at shortstop while Corey Seager (hip) is on the injured list, but Duran figures to be on the short side of a platoon there with the left-handed-hitting Josh Smith. For the year, Duran is slashing .255/.293/.321 with two home runs, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, eight doubles and one stolen base over 225 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Back on bench in Langford's return

Duran is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros. Duran had started in each of the last three games, but with Wyatt Langford (back) returning to action as the Rangers' designated hitter following a two-game absence, Duran will retreat to the bench. Now that the Rangers are at full strength in the infield and outfield save for Evan Carter (back) -- who is out for the season -- Duran will likely be relegated to a short-side platoon role.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Nabbing third straight start

Duran will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Duran will get his third consecutive start, with all three coming in the corner outfield. The last two have come in place of Wyatt Langford, who is battling a tight back but doesn't appear at risk of landing on the injured list. Assuming Langford is back in the lineup within the next few days, Duran will fade back into a bench role.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Recalled, will start Monday

The Rangers recalled Duran from Triple-A Round Rock, and he'll start at designated hitter and bat seventh Monday against the Cardinals. Duran is back with the big club for the first time in just over a month, joining the Rangers as a replacement on the active roster for Justin Foscue, who was optioned to Round Rock. The 25-year-old slashed an impressive .277/.302/.554 with five home runs and five stolen bases over his 19-game stint in the minors, but Duran likely won't be in store for everyday playing time as he rejoins Texas. Though he's out of the lineup Monday, Josh Jung (wrist) was activated from the 60-day injured list and is expected to take on a regular role beginning with Tuesday's game in St. Louis. Duran is expected to head to the bench to open up a spot in the lineup for Jung, but Duran could still get steady at-bats against left-handed pitching while he's with the Rangers.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Heading to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Duran to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Duran had a nice first full season with the Rangers in 2023, slashing .276/.324/.443 with 14 home runs and eight stolen bases. His follow-up in 2024 hasn't been as successful, as he sports just a .256/.294/.324 line with two home runs and one steal over 58 contests. Duran could still play a prominent role with the Rangers later this season, but for now he'll try to get back on track in a less-pressurized environment.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting Saturday

Duran is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals. After starting 11 consecutive games, Duran will be out of the lineup for a second straight contest Saturday. For the month of June, he's slashing .230/.226/.328 with one home run and seven RBI over 61 at-bats. The lefty-hitting Travis Jankowski will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat eighth against the returning Michael Wacha.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes 11th straight start

Duran started at third base and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets. Duran was in the starting lineup for the 11th consecutive game and the 17th time in the last 18 contests. He's filled in at first base against left-handers, then helped cover the left side of the infield, where Corey Seager and Josh Smith have battled injuries. Smith returned as the designated hitter Tuesday, which could spell the end of Duran's streak in the starting nine. Eventually, when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) returns, there will be a reduction in Duran's opportunities.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Helps fill in for injured mate

Duran entered as a pinch runner for Corey Seager (hamstring) and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Thursday's 9-1 win over Detroit. He was also picked off/caught stealing. Duran remained in the game to play third base while Josh Smith, the primary third baseman while Josh Jung (wrist) is unavailable, moved to shortstop to cover Seager's spot in the field. Texas manager Bruce Bochy downplayed the injury when speaking to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com following the game. If the injury lingers, the combination of Smith and Duran should handle the left side of the infield. The Rangers are off Thursday.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Heading to bench Wednesday

Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Duran had been included in the lineup in each of Texas' last six games, drawing three starts at first base, two at designated hitter and one at second base over that stretch while going 4-for-20 with an RBI and a run. He'll cede his spot in the lineup to Travis Jankowski on Wednesday, but Duran should have a path to steady playing time until the Rangers bring back one of Josh Jung (wrist) or Evan Carter (back) from the injured list.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting Saturday

Duran will sit Saturday versus the Angels. Duran will head to the bench after going 1-for-12 with a walk and four strikeouts over the last four games. Jonah Heim will slot in at designated hitter while Andrew Knizner enters the lineup behind the plate and bats eighth against Los Angeles.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes third straight start

Duran started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Friday's 4-2 loss to Colorado. Duran made a third consecutive start and has hit in all three, going 6-for-10 with one RBI and three runs scored. He's started in left field and third base during the three-start run, and there will be plenty of opportunities at each position with Wyatt Langford (hamstring) and Josh Jung (wrist) on the injured list. Neither is due back until the end of the month at the earliest.
