Rutschman notched his sixth long ball of the campaign, tagging Zac Gallen for a solo home run in the sixth inning. After seeing his batting average jump from .254 to .277 last season, Rutschman has taken another step forward at the plate in 2024, slashing .304/.339/.453 with 23 RBI and 21 runs scored across 38 games.

Rutschman had one of the Orioles' three hits in Tuesday's loss. He's gone 8-for-25 (.320) with four extra-base hits and four RBI over six games in May. Rutschman's steal was his first of the year -- speed is the one tool that doesn't show up much in his game. He's still putting together another excellent season with a .322/.359/.469 slash line, five home runs, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored over 34 contests, even with a walk rate at a career-low 5.3 percent.

Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Leads O's with three hits, homer
Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Reds.
Rutschman connected against left-hander Andrew Abbott in the fifth inning for his fifth homer of 2024, and it proved to be the winning run. With extra-base hits in each of his last three games, Rutschman is up to a .321/.361/.470 line through 32 games this season. He's been a bit overshadowed by Gunnar Henderson so far, but Rutschman is producing at a high level from the catcher and DH spots.

Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Homers in consecutive games
Rutschman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Athletics.
Rutschman homered for the second game in a row, doubling his total for the year to four. The catcher also struck out three times Sunday and is now striking out at a 16.0 percent rate. He's added 17 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .318/.361/.455 slash line through 119 plate appearances. Rutschman has maintained more playing time than the average catcher this year, as manager Brandon Hyde has often put him at designated hitter when he's not behind the dish.

Rutschman is on fire with an eight-game hitting streak, going 15-for-36 (.417) in that span with two homers, nine RBI and four runs scored. The catcher's surge has him up to a .324/.368/.438 slash line with three homers, 16 RBI, 16 runs scored and three doubles through 25 games. Rutschman's power numbers are more or less in line with his first two seasons and he's making more contact, but he's also posted a 6.1 percent walk rate so far. Rutschman is on a tear during his five-game hitting streak, going 11-for-24 (.458) with seven RBI in that span. All three of his hits Tuesday were singles, and he has just two extra-base hits during the active streak. Rutschman continues to cement his status as one of the top catchers in baseball with a .323/.366/.419 slash line with two home runs, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored over 101 plate appearances this season.

Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Hits grand slam in defeat
Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a grand slam during Friday's loss to the Royals.
While the rest of Baltimore's lineup was unable to find consistent success against the Royals, Rutschman accounted for three of the team's eight hits, and his seventh-inning slam was the only way the Orioles were able to put runs on the board. The 26-year-old backstop is now 7-for-21 across his last five games and remains one of the more reliable offensive catchers in baseball.
