    Witt took a one-day break from cranking out three-hit efforts Tuesday, then got right back to it Wednesday with his fifth such game in six contests since the All-Star break. The shortstop entered the break hitting .323 on the year and has lifted that already stellar mark to .344 with his recent surge. He's posted a .983 OPS, 18 home runs, 23 stolen bases, 70 RBI, 83 runs scored, 28 doubles and 10 triples as one of the best five-category producers this season.

    Witt went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a triple, a double and three runs scored in Monday's win over Arizona.

    Witt has been on a rampage since returning from the All-Star break. He knocked three extra-base hits Monday, including his three-run shot off Miguel Castro in the fourth inning. Witt has collected three hits in four straight games, and his OPS on the season has jumped from .928 to .979 as a result.     Witt has come out of the All-Star break on a tear with nine hits in 11 at-bats. His streak of three straight games with three hits is tied for the longest of his career. It's also tied for the third-longest streak in Royals history, behind Johnny Damon (four) and George Brett (six). Witt's hot run extends beyond the All-Star break, as he's been out of his mind over his last 15 games, slashing .508/.516/.864 with five homers and 13 RBI over that span. Since June 30, the 24-year-old has seen his batting average go from .307 to .337, second best in MLB behind Steven Kwan.
