Heat's Tyler Herro: Solid outing in preseason debut
Herro amassed 12 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 15 minutes in Sunday's 101-99 preseason win over the Pelicans.
Herro impressed in his preseason debut after missing time due to a groin strain. The sharpshooter played only 15 minutes while tying Duncan Robinson (18 minutes) with a team-high 12 points. Herro is coming off one of his best statistical years, during which he averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from deep across 33.5 minutes per game. However, the 24-year-old played a career-low 42 regular-season games due to a litany of injuries -- most notably an ankle sprain, foot tendonitis and a hyperextended knee. Herro also has yet to eclipse 70 regular-season appearances in his five-year career.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Available Sunday vs. New Orleans
Herro (groin) is available and starting in Sunday's preseason game versus the Pelicans, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Herro will return to game action after sustaining a groin strain that held him out of Tuesday's preseason-opening win against the Hornets. The sharpshooter was able to put up shots without an issue during Friday's shootaround, though it is unlikely he will receive a full workload during his preseason debut.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Practices Friday
Herro (groin) was active during Friday's practice and put up shots afterwards, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
Herro is dealing with a groin strain that held him out of Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets. While the sharpshooter is not 100 percent, he is expected to be fully available for Opening Night against the Magic. Herro's next chance to feature during the preseason will come Sunday versus the Pelicans.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Dealing with groin strain
Herro won't play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets due to a right groin strain.
Herro is coming off an injury-plagued 2023-24 campaign, during which he made a career-low 42 regular-season appearances. Per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, the hope is that it's a minor injury and Herro will be back on the court soon. However, Herro has never played in more than 67 regular-season games in a season, so this is still a concerning update. The Heat have five preseason games before starting the regular season against the Magic on Oct. 23.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Ends season plagued by struggles
Herro ended Wednesday's 118-84 loss to the Celtics in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 15 points (6-19 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 35 minutes.
Herro was forced to embrace a more prominent role on offense due to the absences of Jimmy Butler (knee) and Terry Rozier (neck) in the series against the Celtics. While the numbers were decent across the board, he struggled badly in terms of efficiency and shooting percentages. Over the five games of the series, Herro made just 38.5 percent of his shots from the field and 34.9 percent of his three-pointers. He averaged 16.8 points per game, but that was not enough to lift Miami to victory against the team with the best record in the NBA.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Poor shooting effort in Game 3
Herro finished with 15 points (5-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes during Saturday's 104-84 loss to the Celtics in Game 3 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Herro had a rough outing Saturday, as he had a tough time when matched up against Jaylen Brown, and he finished the game with more field-goal attempts than points scored. That's not an encouraging performance from a player that needs to steps up offensively, particularly with Jimmy Butler (knee) sidelined. Through three games in the current series against the Celtics, Herro has gone 16-for-42 from the field while failing to surpass the 15-point mark twice.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Leads offensively in double-double
Herro posted 24 points (7-13 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 14 assists, five rebounds and one steal over 38 minutes in Wednesday's 111-101 win over Boston in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first round.
Herro stepped up big for Miami in a bounce-back win in Game 2, leading all players in the contest in threes made and assists while leading all Heat players in scoring in an impressive outing. Herro set a season high in assists for any Miami player this year, and he tied the second-most dimes by a Heat player in a playoff game in team history. Miami will need Herro to continue to step up offensively, especially with Jimmy Butler (knee) inactive.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Wills team to victory
Herro accumulated 24 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds and nine assists in 33 minutes during Friday's 112-91 Play-In Game victory over the Bulls.
Herro was the star of the show in this one, and while he didn't have a great shooting night by any means, he had a more controlled approach after knocking down nine of 27 attempts from the field Tuesday against the 76ers. The Kentucky product did much more than score in the win, falling just one assist shy of a triple-double. The Heat will need more performances like this from Herro heading into the team's opening-round series against the Celtics.

Heat's Tyler Herro: Paces team in scoring in loss
Herro registered 25 points (9-27 FG, 4-14 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and nine assists over 41 minutes during Wednesday's 105-104 Play-In Game loss to Philadelphia.
Although Herro needed 27 shots to score 25 shots, the uptick in usage rate happened largely due to Jimmy Butler suffering a knee injury in the first quarter, which limited him considerably, and Bam Adebayo had a rough matchup with Joel Embiid. Herro has reached the 20-point mark in four of his last six outings, and considering Butler will miss Friday's win-or-go-home matchup against the Bulls, Herro should be in line for another heavy usage rate against Chicago.
