Rockets' Jalen Green: Scoring streak snapped
Green contributed 19 points (8-21 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Monday's 107-96 loss to the Pistons.
Green saw his nine-game streak with at least 20 points end abruptly Monday, as he ended up needing 21 shots just to score 19 points in what was a subpar shooting display from the star guard. One bad performance can't stain what Green has done throughout the month of January, though, where he's been the best player for the Rockets by a wide margin. Through 10 games this month, Green is averaging 28.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting an impressive 51.2 percent from the floor.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Subpar performance Monday
Sengun closed Monday's 107-96 loss to the Pistons with 11 points (5-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and five assists over 29 minutes.
Sengun had a rough shooting performance and looked overmatched against the presence of Jalen Duren, needing 14 shots to score 11 points and also losing the rebounding battle against the Pistons' big man. Sengun is one of the most versatile big men in the NBA, but he's recorded only four double-doubles in 10 games during January. He's averaging 20.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game in that stretch, however, so he remains a reliable fantasy asset even if he's not crashing the boards with the volume he's done it in the past.

Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Scores 20 points Monday
VanVleet provided 20 points (7-15 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and six steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 107-96 loss to the Pistons.
VanVleet reached the 20-point mark for the first time since Jan. 9, and his scoring numbers have been a bit inconsistent of late. Even though he remains a key contributor on offense for the Rockets, it's worth noting that VanVleet has failed to score in double digits in four of his nine appearances during January. He's putting up 13.7 points, 5.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game in that span.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Serves as backup center in return
Landale (personal) recorded six points (2-5 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal across 10 minutes off the bench in Monday's 107-96 loss to the Pistons.
The Rockets ruled out Steven Adams (migraine) for Monday's contest, but Landale stepped in to serve as Alperen Sengun's primary backup after missing the previous three games while tending to a personal matter. Assuming Adams is back in action for the Rockets' next game Wednesday versus the Cavaliers, Landale will likely find himself back outside of the rotation.

Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Coming off bench
Tate will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Pistons.
This is an expected move with Amen Thompson (calf) back from a one-game absence. Tate was disappointing in his fill-in start Saturday against Portland, finishing scoreless in 17 minutes with three rebounds, one assist and one block.

Rockets' Steven Adams: Won't play Monday
Adams (migraine) won't play Monday against the Pistons.
Adams is a late scratch for Monday's contest. In Adams' absence, Jeff Green and Jock Landale are candidates to receive the backup center minutes.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Good to go Monday
Thompson (calf) will play Monday versus Detroit, Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News reports.
Thompson officially has the green light to return after missing Saturday's game versus Portland, and there's no word of any restrictions. This means Jae'Sean Tate will likely head back to the bench for Houston. Thompson has averaged 16.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.9 steals on 59.5 percent shooting from the field over his last eight appearances.

Rockets' Jock Landale: No longer on report
Landale (personal) is not on the injury report for Monday's game against the Pistons.
Landale missed Saturday's win over the Trail Blazers due to a personal problem, but the big man will suit up and be available Monday. That said, he essentially provides depth in the frontcourt, so he's not going to provide a lot of fantasy value even when available.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Questionable for Monday
Thompson (calf) is questionable for Monday's game against the Pistons, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Thompson missed the 125-103 win over the Trail Blazers on Saturday due to left calf tightness, and the questionable tag suggests there's a chance he might miss back-to-back games for the second time since the beginning of January. Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate could be in line for bigger roles if Thompson is unable to go.

Rockets' Dillon Brooks: Posts 22 points in lopsided win
Brooks totaled 22 points (9-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 37 minutes during Saturday's 125-103 victory over Portland.
Brooks came alive in the third quarter, joining Jalen Green in a scoring romp that put the game away for the Rockets. Jabari Smith (hand) will be out until March, and Brooks will be called upon to absorb some of the missing output. The projected production boost should put Brooks back on the fantasy radar as a viable waiver wire add, as he's likely available in deeper leagues.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Soars with 23/15 double-double
Sengun registered 23 points (10-19 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-5 FT), 15 rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals across 31 minutes during Saturday's 125-103 win over the Trail Blazers.
Although Sengun endured a brief slump a couple of weeks ago, he's hit the double-double milestone in four of his last six games and came tantalizingly close to the mark in the other two contests. Sengun faced little opposition against the Trail Blazers, who were without Deandre Ayton's (back) services.

Rockets' Jalen Green: Hits for 26 points in win
Green ended Saturday's 125-103 victory over Portland with 26 points (10-17 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes.
Green was the primary catalyst of a third-quarter run that Portland was unable to answer, ultimately sealing the victory for the Rockets. Green's production has been rock-solid throughout the month. The last time Green's scoring total has dipped below 20 points was three weeks ago, and he's been on an aggressive tear of production since, averaging 29.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists over the past nine games.

Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Starting against Portland
Tate will start Saturday's game against Portland, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Rockets originally planned to start Jeff Green in Amen Thompson's (calf) place, but coach Ime Udoka pivoted once Deandre Ayton (back) was ruled out. Tate has played a minimal role all season and will be making his first start of the campaign.

Rockets' Jabari Smith: Won't undergo surgery
Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said Saturday that Smith will not have surgery on his fractured left hand, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Smith fractured his left hand on Jan. 3, which raised doubts about his return to the basketball court for the Rockets this season. Although electing not to have surgery on his hand could extend his recovery timeline, he is not expected to miss much more time than the original estimate of 4-to-8 weeks.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Won't play Saturday
Thompson (calf) will not play Saturday against the Trail Blazers, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Thompson was a late addition to the injury report and will be held out of Saturday's action. He's been on a tear, averaging 16.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.9 steals on 59.5 percent shooting from the field over his last eight appearances. With Thompson sidelined, Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate could be more involved Saturday.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Late addition to injury report
Thompson is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Trail Blazers due to left calf tightness.
Thompson is in danger of missing Saturday's contest after being a late addition to the injury report due to a calf issue. If the 21-year-old guard is unable to suit up against Portland, Cam Whitmore, Jae'Sean Tate and Tari Eason are candidates to receive increased playing time.
