Edebali is the next man up for a Broncos front that will miss Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett through training camp, Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com reports.
Edebali was initially signed to help out on special teams and provide depth behind Ray and Von Miller on the edge. Now, with Ray and Barrett both on timetables that might lead to a missed game or two, Edebali is thrust into a starting role. Don't be surprised if he produces -- the Boston College product is just a season removed from a five-sack campaign playing in a reserve role for the Saints.

Broncos' Kasim Edebali: To receive added offseason exposure
Edebali is among those expected to step up with edge rusher Shaq Barrett slated to miss much of the remaining offseason, Mike Klis of KUSA 9News reports.
Edebali, a free-agent pickup from New Orleans, was supposed to battle it out with 2016 undrafted free agent Vontarrius Dora for the fourth outside linebacker slot left by the retirement of DeMarcus Ware and departure of Dekoda Watson. With Barrett now likely to miss much of the remaining offseason, both figure to get increased reps at practice. Of the two, Edebali is the more experienced pass rusher, just a year removed from a five-sack 2015 campaign. The Broncos' defense might better suit Edebali than the Saints' attack, in which Edebali served as an undersized down lineman.

Edebali signed a one-year contract with the Broncos on Monday.
Edebali hasn't missed a game since coming into the league three years ago and racked up 54 tackles, eight sacks, three passes defensed, and one forced fumble along the way. He projects as a rotational linebacker for the Broncos behind Von Miller, Shane Ray, and Shaq Barrett.

Saints' Kasim Edebali: Two sacks in preseason opener
Edebali recorded two sacks as part of a three-tackle performance in the Saints' preseason opener against the Patriots on Thursday.
Edebali, who is in competition for the starting defensive end spot opposite Cameron Jordan, had an impressive debut with a pair of sacks on Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Edebali had five sacks playing as part of a rotation last season, so he's shown the ability to rush the passer. The competition between him and Obum Gwacham (who also had a nice preseason opener with five tackles) should continue throughout training camp, but if Edebali can secure the starting role, he could be an interesting option in deeper IDP leagues.

Saints' Kasim Edebali: Could start at defensive end
Edabali is a candidate to start at defensive end in the wake of Hau'oli Kikaha's potentially season-ending knee injury, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
As a hybrid linebacker and defensive end, Edabali appeared in all 16 games in 2015, recording 21 tackles (18 solo) and five sacks in a reserve role. The Saints had planned to move Kikaha from the strong-side linebacker position he played as a second-round drafted rookie in 2015 to the "open" edge rusher spot opposite Cam Jordan. His injury, however, means that others will need to step up. Unfortunately for Edabali, it appears that Obum Gwacham may have the initial edge in the battle to replace Kikaha along the defensive line, as Gwacham has been taking snaps with the first team defense since the start of OTAs. Meanwhile, Edabali has primarily worked with a trainer on the side during the OTA sessions open to the media this spring. Nonetheless, Edabali could be an intriguing option in deeper IDP leagues if he is able to secure significant playing time this season.
