  • Broncos' Brandon Jones: Dealing with hamstring issue

Jones tweaked his hamstring at practice Friday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

The severity of the injury isn't known at this point, but even seemingly minor hamstring issues sometimes have a tendency to linger. Until Jones is healthy enough to practice again, 2023 sixth-rounder JL Skinner could get more looks during team drills.

  • Broncos' Nik Bonitto: Expects to practice Saturday

Coach Sean Payton said that Bonitto should practice Saturday, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.

Bonitto left the Broncos' last game of their 2023 season early due to a calf injury, but it doesn't look like that will carry over to the new football year. Now he'll work to try to improve on the impressive benchmark (8.0 sacks) he set for himself last year.

  • Broncos' Caden Sterns: Still not close to healthy

Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Sterns (knee), who's on the active/PUP list, still needs some time to regain full health, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.

Sterns suffered a torn patellar tendon in his knee last Week 1 and missed virtually all of the 2023 season. Ruptured patellar tendons are notoriously one of the toughest injuries to overcome in football. The Broncos signed veteran safety Brandon Jones in free agency and also have P.J. Locke as an experienced option on the back end should Sterns not be ready for the 2024 opener.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Gets contract restructure

Sutton and the Broncos agreed Thursday to restructure his contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sutton previously was scheduled for $13.6 million and $14 million in the final two years of his contract. There was talk of a training camp holdout, but it never seemed especially likely and the Broncos have now placated their No. 1 receiver by adding $1.5 million in incentives for the upcoming season, per Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette. While TD regression is highly likely after Sutton scored on 10 of his 90 targets last year, he can make up for it with added volume in other areas of the field. The Broncos had a highly unusual offensive distribution last year, ranking 27th in pass attempts (513) but first in RB targets (153).

  • Broncos' Audric Estime: Practicing in full

Estime (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's training camp session, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Estime looks back to full health after missing most of the spring program due to a knee scope. The rookie fifth-round pick has a real opportunity to compete for a meaningful role in the Broncos backfield, which also includes Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin and Samaje Perine. He boasts the size and physical profile to potentially carve out a goal-line role, but it may take until well into the preseason for the delineation of Denver's backfield roles to truly become clear.

  • Broncos' Greg Dulcich: Practicing, as anticipated

Dulcich (hamstring) participated in practice Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.

Per McFadden, Dulcich made his mark during Wednesday's session by making a couple of nice catches during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. Dulcich was limited to just two appearances in 2023 as he dealt with hamstring and foot issues, but if he's able to stay clear of significant injury concerns ahead of Week 1, the 2022 third-round pick has a chance to carve out a key pass-catching role in a Denver tight end corps that also features Adam Trautman and Lucas Krull.

  • Broncos' Javonte Williams: Looks sharp at practice

Head coach Sean Payton noted that Williams " looked real sharp" at practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Payton added that Williams has lost some weight since last season, and Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com relays that the running back currently checks in at around 220 or 221 pounds. Per Troy Renck of Denver 7 News, Williams sought to trim down this offseason based on feedback from Payton, and the 2021 second-round pick's apparent improvements in conditioning can only help him maintain his perch atop a Broncos backfield depth chart that also includes Samaje Perine, Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime.

  • Broncos' Greg Dulcich: Expected to practice this week

Coach Sean Payton said Tuesday that Dulcich (hamstring) is expected to practice this week at training camp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Dulcich avoided placement on the active/PUP list to begin camp, so practicing this week should be a given for him. The third-year tight end has been unable to stay healthy as a pro, missing a combined 22 of 34 games since being selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Dulcich played in just two games last season, missing the final 11 overall. The Broncos return veteran Adam Trautman and have openly hyped Lucas Krull this offseason at the tight end position. Payton's Denver regime also wasn't the one that chose to draft Dulcich, so he needs to put some strong, healthy days together this summer to keep his spot.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Slated to participate in camp

Coach Sean Payton noted Tuesday that Sutton will "be here and ready to go" for training camp Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.

There had been some speculation that Sutton's contract status could impact his training camp participation, but it appears as though Denver's top wide receiver will join his teammates once practices commence. With Jerry Jeudy in Cleveland, Sutton could be in line for bigger volume in the Broncos' passing game given the lack of reliable, established options behind him on the depth chart.

  • Broncos' Blake Watson: Expected to recover

Watson is expected to be recover from a slight leg muscle tweak that landed him on the Broncos' active/non-football injury list, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.

Watson's placement on the NFI list is seemingly a procedural matter heading into training camp. A quick recovery would be in the undrafted rookie's best interest, as he is attempting to earn a depth role in Denver's backfield. Thus, the more time on the field the better.

  • Broncos' Delarrin Turner-Yell: Placed on PUP list

Turner-Yell (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Broncos on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Turner-Yell sustained injuries to his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee in Week 17 of the 2023 season, and he'll open Denver's training camp on the sidelines Tuesday. Once he's healthy, the 24-year-old will compete with Devon Key and Kris Abrams-Draine, among others, for a top reserve role at safety in the Broncos secondary this season.

  • Broncos' Caden Sterns: Opening camp on PUP list

Sterns (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Sterns missed nearly the entire 2023 season while recovering from a torn left patellar tendon he suffered in Week 1, and he appears to be not quite 100 percent heading into training camp Tuesday. Once he's healthy, the 24-year-old looks set to be Denver's starting strong safety in 2024, and while he's on the PUP list, he'll be eligible to return to practice and play at any point in the preseason.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Goes to PUP list

Sanders (Achilles) was placed on the active/PUP list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Sanders is still recovering from the Achilles surgery he underwent in late May, so the injury designation comes as no surprise. The linebacker faces an uphill battle to be available to play at all in 2024, though head coach Sean Payton has expressed some optimism in the past.
