Cardinals' Mack Wilson: Logs two turnovers vs. 49ers
Wilson tallied six tackles (five solo), one interception and one fumble recovery during Sunday's 24-23 win over San Francisco.
Wilson grabbed his first interception of the season Sunday and his first since his rookie year with the Browns in 2019. He followed that up by recovering a Jordan Mason red zone fumble that was caused by Jesse Luketa, which led to the go-ahead 35-yard field goal by Chad Ryland 14 plays later. Through the first five games of the regular season, Wilson has logged 33 tackles (21 solo), including 1.0 sacks, two passes defended (one interception) and one fumble recovery.

Cardinals' Budda Baker: Logs 12 tackles vs. Niners
Baker tallied 12 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 24-23 win over the 49ers.
Baker once again led the Cardinals in tackling Sunday, as he registered double-digit tackles for the third time this season. He continues to be an integral part of Arizona's defense, as he was on the field for every single defensive snap, the third time he's done so this season. Baker is up to 52 combined tackles on the year, which leads the Cardinals and is fourth-most in the NFL.

Cardinals' Kyzir White: Grabs first intereption of season
White finished Sunday's 24-23 win over the 49ers with four tackles (one solo) and one interception.
White played every defensive snap Sunday for the fourth time this season. While his four tackles on the day were a season low, he grabbed his first interception of the year as he picked off a floating pass from Brock Purdy late in the fourth quarter that sealed the game for the Cardinals. White is up to 42 combined tackles on the year, which is second on Arizona behind Budda Baker (52).

Cardinals' Will Hernandez: Move to IR official
Hernandez (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
The move for Hernandez was expected with reports surfacing that he suffered a season-ending injury in the Cardinals' win over the 49ers on Sunday. His absence will open up an opportunity for Trystan Colon to start at right guard.

Cardinals' Chad Ryland: Makes four kicks in place of Prater
Ryland connected on three of four field-goal attempts and his only point-after try during Sunday's 24-23 win at San Francisco.
Ryland was elevated from the Cardinals' practice squad Saturday to fill in for the injured Matt Prater (left knee) in Week 5, and the former fared well aside from having a 45-yard FGA blocked and returned for a touchdown in the second quarter. On Monday, Ryland reverted to the practice squad, per the NFL's transaction log, after which coach Jonathan Gannon told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com that the team was taking a wait-and-see approach with Prater. Such comments indicate Ryland may be called upon for place-kicking duties again for Sunday's game in Green Bay if Prater doesn't make enough progress in his recovery.

Cardinals' Trey Benson: Active but no snaps in Week 5
Benson was active but didn't play in Sunday's 24-23 victory in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, James Conner continued to dominate the Cardinals backfield to the tune of a 79 percent snap share and 21 touches, and Emari Demercado earned 22 percent of snaps and just one touch (a catch for no yards). Benson has had two outings this season with significant touches -- 12 in Week 2, nine in Week 4 -- but in the most recent one, all but one of the nine occurred in garbage time of a blowout loss to the Commanders. Benson thus is firmly behind Conner and Demercado among Arizona's running backs.

Cardinals' Emari Demercado: Records one touch in Week 5
Demercado didn't have a carry and gathered in his only target for no yards during Sunday's 24-23 victory at San Francisco.
For the second time in five contests this season, Demercado didn't record a carry, but he at least earned snaps (13 of 58), which can't be said for 2024 third-rounder Trey Benson. The rookie was active, but Demercado was the only one of the duo to get work behind starter James Conner, who played 79 percent of the offensive plays and turned 21 touches into 100 yards from scrimmage. At the very least, Demercado seems to have a firm grasp on the No. 2 RB role in Arizona, but he's so far averaging 2.4 touches per game.

Cardinals' Elijah Higgins: Scores TD on only target Sunday
Higgins caught his only target for a two-yard touchdown during Sunday's 24-23 win in San Francisco.
With the Cardinals' No. 1 TE Trey McBride back in action after sitting out Week 4 due to a concussion, Higgins returned to a normal 41 percent snap share, but he took full advantage of his second red-zone target of the season for touchdown No. 2 in 2024. McBride himself saw an 88 percent share and led the team with nine targets on his way to a 6-53-0 line. Higgins thus is poised for his typical 1-to-2 targets per game moving forward.

Cardinals' Greg Dortch: Has season-worst performance Sunday
Dortch hauled in one of two targets for seven yards and returned one kickoff for 27 yards and one punt for one yard during Sunday's 24-23 win at San Francisco.
Dortch's target count matched his season low, and his catch and yardage totals also marked his worst of the campaign. He didn't lack in snaps (24 of 58) working as the Cardinals' No. 3 WR behind Marvin Harrison (44) and Michael Wilson (42), who combined for a 7-114-0 line on 13 targets while TE Trey McBride paced the team with nine targets in his return from a one game absence. With James Conner seeing one more target than Dortch, the latter isn't any more than fifth in the pecking order for looks from QB Kyler Murray at the moment.

Cardinals' Darius Robinson: Return to practice imminent
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that Robinson (calf) is in line to return to practice this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Robinson has been sidelined since hurting his calf during an Aug. 22 practice, spending the first five weeks of the season on injured reserve. The Cardinals will need to open his practice window in order for the rookie first-round pick to take part in drills, at which point they'll have 21 days to evaluate him. Assuming he gets back on the active roster, Robinson will look to bolster a pass rush that sits in a tie for 19th with 11.0 sacks.

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Status TBD for Week 6
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that the Cardinals will see how Prater (knee) fares in practice this week before determining whether he'll be the team's placekicker this coming Sunday at Green Bay, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Prater mustered just one limited practice (Friday) last week before sitting out Sunday in San Francisco due to a left knee injury. Chad Ryland was elevated from the practice squad and served as Arizona's kicker Week 5, connecting on three of four field-goal attempts and his only point-after try. The missed field goal actually was blocked and returned for a touchdown. In any case, Prater may need to cobble together activity at multiple sessions this week in order to keep his absence to only one game.

Cardinals' Zay Jones: Suspension over, but has roster exemption
Jones' suspension was lifted Monday, but the Cardinals were granted a one-game roster exemption, giving the team a deadline of Monday, Oct. 14 to reinstate him to the active roster or otherwise release him, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Jones opened the 2024 campaign with a five-game ban for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. With five games behind Arizona, the team now can evaluate him in practice this week and bring him back to the active roster at any point in the next week, including in advance of Sunday's contest at Green Bay. Coach Jonathan Gannon spoke of the wide receiver Monday, saying he's "excited about Zay adding in here. We'll find the right ways to deploy him, and he's a playmaker for us, can play all three positions, and he can make plays." Considering those comments, releasing Jones doesn't seem to be an option for the Cardinals, so he likely will make his debut with the team this weekend or Week 6 against the Chargers on Monday, Oct. 21.

Cardinals' Will Hernandez: Slated to land on IR
Hernandez is expected to be placed on injured reserve after sustaining a left knee injury in Sunday's 24-23 win over the 49ers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Reports earlier Monday indicated that Hernandez's left knee injury was likely of the season-ending variety, so his expected move to IR comes as no surprise. With Hernandez likely sidelined for the remainder of the Cardinals' 2024 campaign, expect Trystan Colon to serve as the team's top right guard.
