Top Texans News

  • Texans' Dalton Schultz: Turns in full practice

Schultz (shoulder) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice.

Schultz has been managing the shoulder issue for the last few weeks, but he has yet to miss a game, and his ability to put in a full practice Tuesday clears the way for him to play Thursday against the Bills. The veteran tight end has seen his involvement in the Houston passing attack tick up since the team's Week 6 bye; over the Texans' ensuing five games, Schultz has turned in a 30-303-1 receiving line on 41 targets.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Turns in full practice

Collins (ankle) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice.

Houston estimated Collins as a limited participant for Monday's walk-through session, but the wideout has cleared up any concern about his availability for Thursday's game against the Bills by taking every rep during Tuesday's session. For the third straight week, Collins will be on the receiving end of throws from quarterback Davis Mills, who will make another start while C.J. Stroud remains in concussion protocol.

  • Texans' Jalen Pitre: Ruled out for TNF

Coach DeMeco Ryans said Pitre (concussion) will not play in Thursday night's game against the Bills, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.

Pitre will miss his third straight contest due to the concussion, and the short week didn't help, as Ryans noted it wasn't enough time for Pitre to clear the protocol. Myles Bryant should again handle an expanded role in the Texans' secondary Thursday night.

  • Texans' Davis Mills: Ticketed for third straight start

Head coach DeMeco Ryans said that Mills will serve as the Texans' starting quarterback for Thursday's game against the Bills, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Though C.J. Stroud is in line to practice in some fashion Tuesday for the first time since sustaining a concussion in the Texans' Nov. 2 loss to the Broncos, he's not on track to clear the five-step protocol before Thursday and has been ruled out for a third straight game. As a result, Mills will direct the Houston offense once again after he completed 53 of 86 passes for 566 yards, three touchdowns and one interception to go along with five carries for 34 yards and another score in wins over the Jaguars and Titans during the past two weeks. Assuming Stroud experiences no recurring symptoms of the concussion in his return to practice, he could be in position to reclaim starting duties from Mills in the Texans' Week 13 game against the Colts on Nov. 30.

  • Texans' C.J. Stroud: Ruled out for Thursday night

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans ruled Stroud (concussion) out for Thursday's game against the Bills, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Stroud's headaches and sensitivity to light have subsided since he exited the Texans' Nov. 2 loss to the Broncos due to the concussion, but he remains in the five-step protocol and isn't on track to be cleared prior to Thursday. As a result, Davis Mills will draw a third consecutive start in his stead, but on a positive note, Stroud is slated to practice in some fashion Tuesday for the first time since sustaining the head injury. If all goes well for Stroud in Tuesday's session, he would seemingly be on a path to getting cleared to play ahead of the Texans' Week 13 game at Indianapolis on Nov. 30.

  • Texans' C.J. Stroud: Likely to remain out Week 12

Stroud (concussion) is expected to practice Tuesday, but the quarterback appears unlikely to be available for Thursday's game against the Bills, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.

Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle anticipates that the Texans will list Stroud as a limited participant Tuesday in what would mark his first practice activity of any kind since sustaining a concussion in the team's Nov. 2 loss to the Broncos. Though Stroud still has a chance to clear the five-step protocol before Thursday, a lack of full practice participation on a short week would leave him highly unlikely to start against the Bills. Davis Mills thus looks headed for a third consecutive start, but Stroud's expected return to practice Tuesday would put in him in a good position to return to the lineup Week 13 versus the Colts on Nov. 30.

  • Texans' Calen Bullock: Makes six stops again Sunday

Bullock finished Sunday's 16-13 win over Tennessee with six tackles (three solo).

Bullock's tackle total tied for second-most on the Texans and tied his highest mark in a game so far this season. He's played every defensive snap for Houston in each of the past three weeks and is locked into a full-time role at safety.

  • Texans' Kamari Lassiter: Posts two stops in Week 11 win

Lassiter recorded two tackles (one solo) and a defensed pass Sunday in a 16-13 victory versus Tennessee.

Lassiter played every defensive snap for the Texans but had a meager two tackles for the second straight week. That's not a reflection of Lassiter's level of play -- he was impressive again Sunday, as he has been throughout the season, but that sometimes limits the amount of tackles he gets to make. To highlight that point, Lassiter has notched at least one defensed pass in seven straight contests, the longest such streak in the NFL this season.

  • Texans' Myles Bryant: Paces Texans in tackles Sunday

Bryant logged eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 16-13 win against Tennessee.

Bryant got a chance to start for the second straight week with Jalen Pitre (concussion) unable to suit up. Bryant ended up playing all 59 of Houston's defensive snaps and leading the team in tackles. The Texans play on Thursday night this week, and if Pitre isn't able to return (he was estimated as limited in Monday's walkthrough), Bryant would be in line for another start.

  • Texans' Ed Ingram: Returns to full practice

Ingram (knee) was estimated to be a full practice participant Monday.

Ingram has missed each of Houston's last two games with a knee injury, so his return to a full practice is a big step forward. He appears to be on track to return in Week 12 against the Bills on Thursday.

  • Texans' Tytus Howard: Limited to begin Week 12 prep

Howard (knee/ankle) was estimated to be a limited practice participant Monday.

Howard missed the Texans' Week 10 win over the Jaguars with a concussion. He returned for Week 11 but he is now battling a pair of injuries ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Bills. It doesn't appear that he is in serious jeopardy of missing the contest, but his practice participation will be worth monitoring.

  • Texans' Will Anderson: Nursing ankle injury

Houston listed Anderson (ankle) as a limited practice participant on Monday's estimated report.

Anderson played a key role during the Texans' 16-13 win over the Titans on Sunday, when he strip-sacked Cam Ward and recovered the fumble he caused early in the fourth quarter, leading to a 43-yard field goal from Matthew Wright four plays later. Anderson appears to have tweaked his ankle during Sunday's game, and his practice participation over the next two days will indicate his chances of suiting up against the Bills on Thursday.
